Out and About Global: January 2015
http://www.outandaboutglobal.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
A Sermon at Peter's Primacy. It was a glorious dawn the day we toured the Galilee area visiting places where Christ spent the majority of his ministry. While the dramatic last events of Christs life occur in Jerusalem, his everyday life, the calling of the apostles, the feeding the 5,000 and a multitude of miracles took place on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. . A large rock incorporated in the chapel. Quote taken from Sacred Destinations.com). But we gave it another try in November when my husband ra...

Out and About Global: November 2014

Silent Sunday- Clear Blue Skies. Christmas 365 Days A Year- Seiffen, Germany. Not the most thrilling pictures, or even great quality, but I just wanted to capture how this small Greek Orthodox church built 1000 years ago has been preserved and built over by the modern sprawl that is Athens, Greece. So, youve traveled all the way to this remote part of Poland for a pottery buying extravaganza. You only have two days, maybe even less? 160;This is your one chance, buy more, not less! It was a fantastic pla...

Realla-June - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/realla-june
All white and dark red pieces are from Sherri's wedding dress. Ever since my sister's friend Sherri got married, she has been asking me to make a baby quilt from her wedding dress. I have known Sherri and her family for longer than I can even remember. So after many years of patiently waiting, Sherri and her Husband Dan were finally expecting! I, of course, was so excited when I heard the great news. I was looking forward to making a quilt for their new baby girl. It is surprisingly a hard choice. I want...

Silas - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/silas
A little while ago I was approached to make a baby quilt for a friend who was expecting her first Grandbaby, Silas. The Parents-to-be wanted a blue/orange colour scheme, but weren't too particular on the design. We selected the adorable Riley Blake's One for the Boys. And found that the fabric was perfect for the colour scheme. The majority of the fabrics in this line were pretty subdued. There was one orange fabric that seemed to pop out. After a little bit of playing, this was the final design.

Happy Things! - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/happy-things
Ok, so this post isn't at all quilting related. It is, however, something that has made me extremely happy! A new coffee table! Well, a new-to-me coffee table. The new coffee table had to meet the following criteria:. Maximum 30"w square or diameter. Shelf on the bottom for storage. Coordinate with MidCentury Modern (MCM). After several failed attempts to score something on Kijiji, I spotted this. On my Aunt Joan's blog, Nicer than New. Can you see the table? The best part, Joan offered to rehabilitate t...

Sometimes Keeping A Secret is Hard Work! - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/sometimes-keeping-a-secret-is-hard-work
Sometimes Keeping A Secret is Hard Work! We've all been there. We've all had exciting things to share but for one reason or another we haven't been able to share. I am proud to say that I can finally share a very special project that I have been working on since last SPRING. My cousin, Meredith, headed to Queens University last September. My ever so clever Aunt Joan wanted me to create a memory blanket for Meredith to use while she was away at University. I wasn't able to find the original source of this...

With All My Heart... - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/with-all-my-heart
With All My Heart. Every year as Valentine's Day approaches I tend to hear people refer to the day as nothing but a commercial money grab. Nowadays, hasn't every "holiday" we celebrate turned into a commercial money grab? I am here to tell you why it doesn't have to be that way. I don't think it is. Having our engagement occur on a day that is easy to remember has actually been fun. We always reminisce about the day we became engaged, it makes us remember how special that day was for us. Grandma) over 25...

Patrick's "Woodsy-ish" Quilt - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/patricks-woodsy-ish-quilt
This adorable little quilt has been on my "wait-list" since last summer when little Patrick made his way into the world. The quilt was received today and now I can finally share! For the quilting I decided to use straight-line quilting in random widths to replicate bark on a tree. To complete the "woodsy-ish" theme, I used a birch tree fabric on the entire back. I am so incredibly happy with the final result. It is a beautiful, soft and bright quilt for Patrick to enjoy for years to come!

Everyone Needs a Bubbie - Lay It On Me Baby
http://www.layitonmebaby.com/blog/everyone-needs-a-bubbie
Everyone Needs a Bubbie. Bubbie and I. She was taking "selfies" with her disposable camera long before Facebook. I don't have a first memory of Bubbie. She was just always there. Her house was directly behind ours. My parents had taken fence boards out in between both yards so that we could easily get back and forth. It was incredible to just skip through the back yard to visit. My dream life as a child. Bubbie holding the Chirstmas Rag quilt I made her. This was our last Christmas together. Reflecting o...
