Nicholle's Digital Photography: September 2012

http://www.nicholledp.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

My inner thoughts and experiments in digital photography. Sunday, September 30, 2012. Mastering the iSight's Shutter Speed. Focusing the camera off in the distance, I ensured that everything was as clear as it could be and set the camera's AE/AF Lock. Then I simply threw pebbles into the water as I shot the effects. I tried doing some time-lapse photography so we could see the softness of the ripples and waves, but they didn't save to my phone properly. I wanted to make sure I achieved the 'dreamy' effec...

Nicholle's Digital Photography: What Makes A Good Portrait?

http://www.nicholledp.blogspot.com/2012/12/what-makes-good-portrait.html

My inner thoughts and experiments in digital photography. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. What Makes A Good Portrait? This is like the $10,000 question. There are so many things that make up a good portrait. Many of the technical elements like choosing the ISO. Using the in-camera flash. Using the golden mean. Or rule of thirds. Here, the same subject feels much more comfortable and relaxes to be photographed with ease. The expressions that follow show her comfort in the situation. Sometimes even the simples...

My inner thoughts and experiments in digital photography. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Experiment With In-Camera Flash On A Sunny Day. ISO 64 - 1/569s. The first set of photographs were taken indoors in the morning just before sunrise. No real light was coming from any of the windows, So I turned the room lights on and used the flash to take this photograph. What resulted was a washed out photo of the subject. ISO 320 - 1/16s - Flash. ISO 320 - 1/16s - Flash. ISO 400 - 1/16s - Flash. ISO 50 - 1/141. This se...

My inner thoughts and experiments in digital photography. Sunday, November 25, 2012. 6 Guidelines for better composition. How does a photographer know how to compose a good photograph? There are many different things one can look at when asking this question, but this week I will only focus on 6 of the basics. My focus was on the wine glass. It was partially full and exactly what I wanted to photograph. However, I did not create the proper scene for this photograph. Just take a look at the ba...If what I...

Jim's ESC Blog. Where Jim blogs his ESC coursework. In all the excitement of waiting for my new camera to arrive, I never went back and actually did the assignment where I explained its features. I bought a Nikon D3200. As I showed in my unboxing post. And the one before it. The camera has a decent built-in pop-up flash that will come up automatically in full program mode, and apart from some red-eye when shooting at a distance, it works well, and recharges quickly. It has a “guide mode” that...A feature...

Monday, 18 May 2015. NOTD: Rimmel Rita Ora 60 Seconds Super Shine - Roll in the Grass. Last year Rimmel launched a collab range of nail polishes with Rita Ora. There was a lovely selection of colours but they were part of the 60 Seconds range which was notorious for taking several 60 seconds to dry. The brush is quite wide which can make application a little messy on my smaller nails. Having said that, I know a lot of people much prefer a wide brush so it's really just down to personal taste.
