Recipes for Disaster

Saturday, August 23, 2008. A few months ago, early in the summer Court and I were idling through the Carrboro Farmer's Market. We were hunting out something to plant in our garden. Specifically we were looking for some fun, hot chiles to plant. We had had a rough start to the season, losing a Cayenne plant and nearly losing another to the depredations of the local rabbit and groundhog population. Jokingly, I looked at a rack of innocently looking pepper plants and said, "How 'bout some of those Habaneros?

Recipes for Disaster: Baking the perfect loaf

http://nickandcourtcook.blogspot.com/2007/09/baking-perfect-loaf.html

Sunday, September 9, 2007. Baking the perfect loaf. 3 cups bread flour (can substitue some all-purpose). 3 tsp kosher salt (less if using fine salt). 1 package of dry active yeast or 1 tsp of instant yeast. 1 1/2 cup of room temperature water. Coarse wheat bran or semolina. You'll also need an ovenproof casserole and a clean tea towel. I haven't tried adding much to the bread yet, but some obvious possible additions are pepper, rosemary, nuts, dried fruit, or whatever herbs you have growing in the garden.

Recipes for Disaster: July 2007

http://nickandcourtcook.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 24, 2007. A few weeks ago Court sent me a link. To a New York Times article from the food section (you won't be able to see the page unless you have the NY Times online subscription-thingy). Essentially the article explains how, using a standard stand mixer, one can make butter at home. Obviously the foodie in Court and I had it's interest piqued. In the article grandiose claims were made about the quality of this homemade butter. 6 cups heavy cream. Things we've done with the butter:.

Livin' on Love

Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Well, I haven't blogged since we left Virginia so here it goes. Our summer finished out really well. It was a successful summer, but we were ready to get home. Ready to see family, and I was ready to start nursing school. He really is just so good looking sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am:). A Happy Family

Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Well here we are again. There is SO much going on in our family and I've yet to document anything! Our most exciting news is the newest member to the family. A beautiful Miniature Australian Shepard named Carly. We just adore her! She has most definitely made our lives harder, but she is oh so worth it! Her sweet doggie snuggles make you forget all about stepping in puppy poop with your bare feet. Almost. Noah is almost done with Kindergarten! Where has the time gone! I've alwa...
