View from the Duck Pond

Sunday, 26 July 2015. Random Musings on a Rainy Weekend. After the somewhat optimistic post about taking advantage of the nice weather, I find myself gazing through the rain streaked window, watching the gale force wind ,swirling various things around our lovely garden, summertime has been and gone, end of July, more like bloody November here at Higgins Towers. Not the most ideal weather, for a session of making terrain boards on the patio. I think you can understand the cycle of despair by now. I work o...

View from the Duck Pond: Summers Here, and once again............

http://www.nigelh-viewfromtheduckpond.blogspot.com/2015/07/summers-here-and-once-again.html

Saturday, 11 July 2015. Summers Here, and once again. Its time to resurrect that Pyrrhic army, you remember them don't you? Forlornly hanging around the edges of the painting desk, in their various half painted states, thinking to themselves. You see, it goes like this. Admitting defeat, I carefully pack away the plasticard, and seal the lid of the liquid poly firmly shut, Then the rummaging starts, like some grey haired ferret, I sniff my way through the stack of boxes lurking under the desk. Then, its ...

Sunday, 22 June 2014. Yes, bloop, bloop bloop, Polish Renaissance, ooooooohhhhh hang on, whats in that box? Just a quick peek, in case its something important. Aaaaaaah of course, its those Dark Ages figures, you know the ones, they are in that set of books, by whotsits face. Yep, thats the badger, so what have we got in there then? Time for a Higgs type rummage :-). Crikey chaps, forgot all about this little stash, I do believe I have some of those painted somewhere. I like the figures, they paint up qu...

View from the Duck Pond: This Week, I Shall Mostly Be Painting..............

http://www.nigelh-viewfromtheduckpond.blogspot.com/2015/04/this-week-i-shall-mostly-be-painting.html

Saturday, 18 April 2015. This Week, I Shall Mostly Be Painting. Taking their positions on the painting table, we have, in no particular order. Pyrrhic Army For Impetus. As a result of the incessant badgering I received when out drinking with the New Buckingham War-games crowd, these long forgotten lads have crept back onto the table. I "only" need to do the Cretan Archers (at the front) and the Greek cavalry (at the back) plus a general to lead the army ( I have a suitable Pyrrhus) and its game time.

View from the Duck Pond: I'm Getting Board..................

http://www.nigelh-viewfromtheduckpond.blogspot.com/2015/07/im-getting-board.html

Sunday, 19 July 2015. As the summer slowly ticks away, I've suddenly realised, that if I want to take advantage of the nice weather, I had best get my arse into gear :-). I have these boards to do you see, as New Buckingham don't possess any sandy, scrub type terrain, I thought I should make some of my own to take over, of course there is an ulterior motive to this, I want to do the boards, so I can use them to put on a game at a show, this show most likely being one of the Partizan ones. So, a little bi...

Healed of Autism (Aspergers). How did it happen? How did I become a Christian? What is autism like? This website is all about how I, Nigel, was healed of Aspergers Syndrome. Which is at the milder end of the autistic spectrum. Actually, it's mostly. About that at all. I was healed in an instant. No, this is all about how I was also healed of the effects of having been autistic, which is much bigger deal altogether. I've deliberately kept this web site anonymous. That is to say, my real name.

Miranda Web site 2015. Welcome to the website that I have published as a tribute to an incredibly unusual little ship. Why unusual? She started her life as a four masted sailing ship for a start! After a period of time as a coaster, She spent her final years in a role that was to save many lives and provide a lot of comfort to the UKs deep sea fishing fleet. With almost no exception those who served in her developed an affection for her which few other ships engendered. Listen to a recording of an incide...

Thursday, 15 September 2011. Wedding of Dorothy and Ade, 10th September 2011. This was always going to be a little different from the kind of wedding I normally get to do in Peterborough. This was a very AFRICAN wedding. As you can imagine, colours and spectacular outfits were everywhere. It was Carnival time! Colourful headdress' worn by even more colourful characters! Over 200 people came to witness the wedding of Dorothy and Ade (shortened name to help me pronounce it! Thursday, 8 September 2011.
