However aiding the victims of human trafficking should not in my view be the role of Employment Tribunals and this move seems to be an acknowledgement of the Government’s failure to address the underlying problem and an attempt by the Court to intervene by a less appropriate route. Inevitably a major concern for clients about to embark on divorce and related financial proceedings is how to fund their legal expenses. For divorce lawyers this should always be at the forefront of our minds too – and not just because we want to get paid! October 2013 in addition to seeing an increase in the prescribed minimum wage rates (see previous blog), we also see the introduction of the provisions of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 requiring, amongst other things, disclosure and approval of remuneration rates for directors of quoted companies.
