First off, History Channel is showing a special documentary by Ridley Scott on Memorial Day entitled "Gettysburg." Here is a sneak peak below:. Now back to lesson planning for tomorrow's "The Turning Point" of the Civil War. Links to this post. Josie ...

The most important accomplishment is my completion of grad school. I am officially a Master of Education! Boy, does it feel strange to be done with school after 22 years of my life. All I wanted was to have a spiked beverage, read a trashy novel, and eat a fat juicy burger. So that is exactly what I did. Links to this post. Kites and pe...

As I begin, I think it is necessary to start simple, humble, and most importantly precious. One of my favorite stories that was read to me as a child, and read to my parents, was "The Littlest Angel" by Charles Tazewell. In 1939. Later this story would become a children's storybook, and even a feature film. Links to this post. Labels: 25 Days of Nightlight Readings.

A blog of History, Literature, all which Pertains, and Late Night Rambling. Day 10 of Nightlight Readings: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer's, A Little History. Recently an aunt of mine sent out a forwarded email, which I am sure some people have seen, but it was the first time I read it. I knew part of the story of how "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" came to be, as you can look at last year's post on Day 10. Bob had created an animal character in his own mind and told the animal's story to little Barbara...

Nightlight Reading
Sunday, January 20, 2013. If you were a fan of The Lovely Bones. Several months ago, I went to a book event held by Hachette Book Group. It was a fantastic compilation of several of its authors speaking on panels about their particular genres and books. This is where I was introduced to Megan Abbott, author of The End of Everything. And her new book, Dare Me. And what better way to leave an event like this than with a bag full of complimentary books. A true delight for a book lover. The End of Everything.

A blog of History, Literature, all which Pertains, and Late Night Rambling. Day 2 of the 25 Days of Nightlight Readings: The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum. Her recent, horrifying release Night Film. Has me so scared I’m not even sure I can continue reading it. I am a fraidy-cat to be sure and I know it’s just a book, however, I am torn between wanting to know what happens and sending it straight back to the library! Looking for a few more scary reads this Halloween season?
