Tales of a Tai Tai: Food fight
http://www.talesofataitai.com/2012/11/food-fight.html
Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Terrible picture but I think it captures the moment rather well. You know sometimes you have moments when you want to violently throw your hands up, storm out and fucking shout loudly "NOT MY PROBLEM! But of course you can't because that problem. Is in fact your nine month old baby, who of course you love dearly, but who right now is driving you fucking insane. Yeah, well that's me. Three times a day at the moment. Breakfast, lunch and fucking dinner. Thing he will eat.

Sent From My iPad: #edcampARL
http://techsentfrommyipad.blogspot.com/2014/03/edcamparl_30.html
Sunday, March 30, 2014. Yesterday I attended my first decamp and I absolutely fell in LOVE with the edcamp UNconference model. The mood was relaxed, everyone dressed pretty casual and breakfast was served (thank you Starbucks, DD and Harris Teeter)! During the Smack Down everyone got to share a tool or thought but of course no one wanted to go first. I borrowed this pic from Twitter but I don't think Mr. Lands will mind:)! I had an awesome day but one of the best parts was that I won a CHROME BOOK! I had...

Lemon Jitters: DIY: Hair Comb
http://www.lemonjitters.com/2011/09/diy-hair-comb.html
See the step-by-step instructions here. This is a super simple project. All you need is a hair comb and embroidery floss. I had a pack of hair combs that I got at Walgreens a long time ago (Like 10 or 12 combs for $4- they still have them). Plus vintage embroidery floss from forever ago. I'm going to keep these old photos up for kicks and giggles. :) But I decided to make another comb and take a few photos. Update: Forgot to mention that this layout is from Pugly Pixel. Friday, September 9, 2011. I have ...

Why It Matters: Outsource? We don't think so!
http://www.whyitmatters.org/2009/04/as-you-may-know-albert-lord-ceo-of.html
Sunday, April 19, 2009. We don't think so! As you may know, Albert Lord, CEO of Sallie Mae Corporation, a major player in the student lending industry, recently announced that he was bringing back 2,000 call center jobs from out-sourced offices overseas. For whatever reason that Mr. Lord had to make this decision, we have to hope that other companies will follow behind him. Here in the US, we have vigorous hiring policies at most financial institutions. Most prospective employees have a credit histor...

The Cole Train: Hooked on Anchor Charts
http://thecoletrain5060.blogspot.com/2011/10/hooked-on-anchor-charts.html
Thursday, October 6, 2011. Hooked on Anchor Charts. As we wrap up the eighth week of school, I feel like we have anchor charts coming out of our ears. However, I can't imagine teaching without them! Here are just a few of our charts that we've generated with. In the beginning of the year, we created a lot of charts about what classroom procedures should "look like, sound like, and feel like.". To help encourage recognition and mastery of our weekly vocabulary words ( seen here. While studying non-fiction...

Dan Gourmet: Pork Loin Roast - Sous Vide
http://www.dangourmet.com/2010/01/pork-loin-roast-sous-vide.html
Sunday, January 31, 2010. Pork Loin Roast - Sous Vide. A couple of days ago when I was at whole foods, they were having a sale on boneless pork loin roast so I went ahead and picked one up. It was really cold and dreary this weekend, so Jessica and I were in the mood for something seasonally appropriate and wintery. Pork loin roast was just the ticket. This afternoon, I busted out my trusty. System and set the PID controller to 140F and threw the bagged roast in to slow cook for six hours. As is almost a...

Teaching the Main Idea for Non-Fiction - Teach with Kate
http://www.teachwithkate.com/2012/05/teaching-main-idea-for-non-fiction.html
Teaching the Main Idea for Non-Fiction. May 2, 2012. Oh, the joys of teaching second graders the main idea. By this point in the year, we get it. Mostly because we spent the better part of six weeks creating animal reports. The students chose their own animal, gathered research, and wrote several 'chapters' on the information they learned. Paired with our study of informational text, my kiddos seem to have a grasp on the purpose of a table of contents, headings, and bold text. It was not so hot. The stud...
