http://mycrazyrelatives.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
I dedicate this blog to all my crazy relatives whose lives touch mine in a profound kinda way. I love you all. even though you make me scratch my head sometimes. Thursday, May 27, 2010. Remembrance: A Photo Essay by Sander James Alvarez. Masons were rushed to build a new sarcophagus. By night fall, the coffin was finally shoved into the wet, uncured cinder box in a hurry. I was not there for the reburial. But my nephew, Sander James Alvarez, was there, and these are his pictures. Thank you, Sander. Almos...

My Crazy Relatives: January 2011
http://mycrazyrelatives.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
I dedicate this blog to all my crazy relatives whose lives touch mine in a profound kinda way. I love you all. even though you make me scratch my head sometimes. Monday, January 31, 2011. Remember the post about preparing the fishing lines. The bait, packaged squid. The little black fish is grooper, a very young, baby grooper. It was caught using the squid, that opaque looking blob to the right of it, and eventually used as bait as well. Hand held fishing lines. Um Tita N, could you help me with this?

And so, Loy, his lovely wife Imax, and their lively boy Jeimax came to America at the right time and the right place. Weary They started out from Truk Island to Guam, the first stepping stone to the States. But Truk to Guam is only the shortest leg of the journey! Guam to Hawaii, in seven hours, is the longest flight&...

My Crazy Relatives: Thinking of Tito Pete On Veteran's Day

I dedicate this blog to all my crazy relatives whose lives touch mine in a profound kinda way. I love you all. even though you make me scratch my head sometimes. Monday, November 11, 2013. Thinking of Tito Pete On Veteran's Day. With Tito Pete on Easter Sunday 2000. Tita V quickly put me back down for that nap. Later that evening I supposedly asked her what were you and that old man doing on the bed? She answered "I was picking lice out of his head". And that was that. His love of cooking. His specia...

Kima can cook ... and eat: July 2011
http://kimacooks.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Kima can cook . and eat. Saturday, July 23, 2011. Recipe: Shrimp patties, Guam style. I used three different recipes as guidelines, which pretty much gave me license to just throw everything together and hope for the best. Note: I added imitation crab, chopped up, when I made this because we had extra packages in the freezer. I also like the red color it adds to the shrimp patties.). Second note: You may use regular milk instead of evaporated milk.). About 3 cups flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. Heat oil...

Kima can cook ... and eat: June 2012
http://kimacooks.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Kima can cook . and eat. Thursday, June 7, 2012. Recipe: Garlic fried rice. Got lots of leftover rice? This is a no-brainer recipe. If you have the minced garlic in a jar, then it gets even easier. All measurements are approximate, as I just threw in what looked right. I had cooked five cups of rice, but we barely used a quarter of what was cooked. So I had almost a full (medium) rice pot of cooked rice. Cooked rice, broken up. 2 heaping tablespoons of minced garlic (from jar or fresh). 1/8 cup soy sauce.

Kima can cook ... and eat: August 2011
http://kimacooks.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Kima can cook . and eat. Friday, August 19, 2011. First-timer's recipe: Basic fried chicken. I've never made fried chicken . until today. I know, it's a basic meal that everyone should know how to do, and it's so easy. So why had I never done it? But today I was standing in the kitchen, wondering what the heck was I going to feed the kids? So while I put the chicken in the microwave to defrost, I went online to skim "easy fried chicken." The first few recipes called for buttermilk, which I don't have...

Kima can cook ... and eat: January 2013
http://kimacooks.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Kima can cook . and eat. Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Recipe: Pork taosi, pinoy style. Pork taosi is usually made with a sauce using cornstarch to make it thick. I dislike cooking with the cornstarch/water mixture and try to avoid it (so far, been successful for over a decade). As I wondered how to make my pork taosi's sauce, I remembered a Filipino recipe that added tomato sauce to the meat and black beans. Boneless pork chop, cut into thick strips. Garlic, sliced or minced/or garlic powder.
