We do not produce our own projects but support local initatives with the skills of the volunteers. We support them occaisionally with financial resources and equipment but our main aim is for local africans to help themselves with our support. We try to encourage and empower our african friends to work out the best way forward for themselves. These are some of the projects we support on a regular basis. Ganyane Combined Primary School. Costs will vary from year to year but this is a rough guide to possible expenses. Return flight from UK to SA - between £450 and £700 depending on how soon you book. Accommodation costs to host family. 2 weeks - R1000 (£100). 4 weeks - R1200 (£120). 2 months - R 2000 (£200). All activities are optional but help volunteers to experience much of the real Africa. Volunteer Qualities We Are Looking For. Gap students and those with degrees will be considered. A stay of 4 weeks - but this is negotiable. Self-funding for travel, accommodation and recreational costs. Will live with local families in rural setting. On a professional level volunteers are asked to look at their own practice and particular strengths and prepare a training workshop to share good practise and skills with their African colleagues during their time in the Limpopo. The Limpopo Province is situated at the North Eastern corner of South Africa and shares borders with Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The local people need help in many aspects of their education and health systems including home based care and education of the wider community. Help is offered by volunteers, who fund themselves, with specific skills. We have volunteers from the UK, Germany, New Zealand and the USA. A Swiss organisation called SOLON, based in Durban has agreed to fund some of the transport, accommodation and communication costs of the project. For this we are very grateful to Cecily Salmon who visited the projects two years running and supported us. This will make life so much easier and the project more able to carry out its tasks.
