Church wore me out. I just want some peace! Have you worn busyness as a badge of honor? It’s understandable. We like to feel needed. We like to feel important. Those with the fullest calendars are the most important, right? How can that be bad? God knows there are only 24 hours in a day. If you’ve got more to do than will fit in your calendar, some of the things on your list are not God’s idea. It is particularly sad that sometimes, those extra things that burn us out include serving in the church.

If I do go to church, it’s only out of duty. Church is just another time-clock you punch? You put your time in. You make everybody happy, and when it’s done, you’re able to go back to your real life. It’s an honorable thing to make others happy, but is resigning yourself to lifeless spirituality really what you want? Maybe there are options you haven’t explored.
