The principles of service, within North Yorkers for Disabled Persons are:. To provide physical support and augmentative communication assistance to persons with disabilities. To maintain a supportive environment, where each tenant directs his/her own service. To encourage personal growth towards independence. To adequately staff and maintain the group home. The focus of the NYDP Communication Enrichment Program is on vocabulary and literacy enrichment, conflict resolution, learning to better direct attendant services and personal advocacy.The class was developed to support Augmentative and Alternative communication users and assist them through language development and facilitation services. The class runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 1:00pm-3:30 pm.
