Dead Dog Walking

Sunday, November 9, 2014. On occasion, someone tells me I don’t look my age. At first I’m thrilled and don’t even stop to consider if the comment is sincere. All such “you can’t be – fill-in-the-blank, fifty, fifty-five, fifty-eight” remarks are meant to be compliments, because everybody knows a woman in her fifties or beyond, a woman of sixty, has passed her sell-by date. Do I really want to resent every sign of the trip that’s brought me here? Can I have one and not the other? I am still alive. The lin...

Dead Dog Walking: July 2014

http://onedogstory.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Once, I argued the need for counseling with him, saying, “I just want you to be happy.”. 8220;You don’t get it,” he snarled in response. “I’m never happy.”. He was right. I didn’t get it. If I could have given Brandon anything, and if he could possibly have received it, the one thing I would have given is this; the ability to see and smell and touch and hear and feel goodness in the simple, daily things all around. It makes all the difference. Monday, July 21, 2014. It was bad eno...

Dead Dog Walking: August 2014

http://onedogstory.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Suicide is an act that appeared incredibly selfish until I stood right next to it. I swirled (and still sometimes do) in what if's. What if I stopped him from leaving that day when he packed his backpack and included his blue and red climbing rope? What if I required him to see yet another mental health specialist sooner? What if I was softer and more forgiving? What I had been stricter? What if I told him I loved him more often? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Dead Dog Walking: Grief Tides

http://onedogstory.blogspot.com/2014/07/grief-tides.html

Monday, July 21, 2014. I found this post, written and neglected. Yet it reflects well the emotional tone of the past couple of years, so here goes. He blog, to begin to write. I was, of course, wrong. It wasn't the first time. At the end of the day, at the end of a life, it doesn't really matter why we get cancer. We'll all die of something and that's the tough reality. We'll all die one day and right now, I'm finding that in itself to suck. But do so many of us have to die from cancer?

Dead Dog Walking: September 2011

http://onedogstory.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 6, 2011. I'm pissed at cancer again. Those sinister little cells that spin out of control, unwanted and dysfunctional in someone's body. My sister this time. Again. Already. Being angry at cancer is silly. Just a cellular error, the malignancy doesn't have an agenda to take my sister - or anyone else - out. It only seems that way. Seems cancer returns with a vengeance, malicious, with the intent to eat my sister up, gobble her down like the legendary big bad wolf.

One Dog Sports Blog

One Dog Sports Blog. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. One of the advantagews of having a sporting goods business and also having a website and blog is that when a company displays poor service and total lack of respect for the people who pay them, I can let them have it in my blog. In fact it was just a couple weeks ago that I called and asked if I could do that and they said again, no problem. I would advise that others do the same. These clubs pray on the young user who is not smart enough to know what ...

One Dog, Two Dog, White Dog, Blue Dog

Tuesday, June 9, 2009. One Dog, Two Dog, White Dog. NEW DOG? She's spoiled us, I think, and I'll never have another puppy because it might not turn out like her and then I'll be disappointed. It's old dogs from here on out! I have to post some pictures of Sully playing with her. He's so gentle, but they're both so loud. What a good boy. He's come a long way. Links to this post.
