The basin was almost halfway between, to the north, Ladyshore Bridge, and, to the south, a distinctive narrow canal section which was a coffer-dam where boards could, if needed, be inserted across the canal sides to allow sections of canal to be drained. There is now a metal gateway affair adjacent to this coffer-dam. (Pic 2). More will be added here as time allows.

So much clearer air this morning but it is wet out there off the beaten track. Not too cold. The ‘Arctic blast’ is expected soon though. Meanwhile pretty average weather for us up north. An OAP.'s view of everything. Tuesday 10th January 2017. Drizzly this morning so a quick out and about between light rain showers. Not cold though. But forecasters have said we’ll get ‘Thundersnow’. What that is I’ve no idea but we’ll also get ’55 mph winds’, ‘frost’, ‘blizzards’. In the north that lot just means it’s winter. Not a problem, the bike’ll run fine. Watched old ‘Mission Impossible’ film last night. I think it’s old. The music? Is it from ‘The Man from Uncle? January 10, 2017.
