Climate Change and Bioenergy. Renewable fuels can reduce California’s dependence on heavily polluting fossil fuels used in motor vehicles and for other purposes. Using renewable fuels in place of fossil fuels can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help California meet its Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
