Work to date on the suspension:. All poly bushings throughout. 2" drop variable-rate springs in front. 15" drop lowering springs in rear. New upper and lower ball joints. All moving suspension parts were sandblasted, etched, primed and repainted. Tomorrow I'll bleed the brakes, change the oil . and hopefully take it for a spin! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I found this car on turbobricks. Apparently this thing has a 4" drop in the front. . Even though the paint and body is all f*cked up, it still looks good. Check it out here! The parts are back from getting sand-blasted. I'm getting the bushings pressed out and then the poly bushings will get pressed in. Then we'll paint them gloss black before the install. All new parts, can't wait. Here's a detail of the paint ready surface of the lower A-arm. IPD 1971 Volvo 142E. Can't wait to get this cleaned up!

Friday, August 19, 2011. Months and months since my last post here, and I am finally getting ready to tinker again! First, brakes I think. But the engine build is not far off, and I am seeking advice this time- -I want to use Yamaha R1 carbs on the new B20 build, and I have heard that Weber jets will thread right into the Yamaha carb bodies, eliminating the issue of testing scores of jets in search of just the right one. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. I think I have been working on 140s too long. Last week I did a complete transmission upgrade swap on a '72 145 from an M40 to an M41 (overdrive) in two 2-hour sessions, and yesterday I changed a head gasket, water pump, and injector seals on a '73 142 in under 4 hours in a driveway. Changed out the oil and front main seal, water pump gasket, right rear caliper (it was sticking badly), bled the brakes, and added a tank of fresh gas last night before venturing forth. Friday, March 12, 2010. Despite her dramatic drivetrain woes, Faye Valentine was de-garaged this last week and I have been driving her around a little here and there. It's nice to be behind the wheel the 142 again! So the current plan is to rebuild my spare M-41 with the overdrive, which will get me freeway capable transmission for almost no cost, and spend a much more modest $2-4K on a beefy naturally-aspirated engine and go driving!
