Earl Grey Soliloquy: A Baby Grand Piano
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-baby-grand-piano.html
A Baby Grand Piano. Is now residing in our house! We bought it used from someone we know from church. It is the smallest baby grand you can have, but it makes an enormous difference when compared to an upright! The action is about 5000% better and the sound is nice and warm. It is taking a bit of getting used to, but after we tune it things will be considerably better. I'm so happy! Thanks Mom and Dad! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Earl Grey Soliloquy: February 2015
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Lately I've taken to compiling a list of words I should use more often or at all, in writing or speech. The list has seen steady growth, and I add whatever I think is a cool word. Some are there for the way they sound, some for their definitions, some for their tone, some for a combination of these. Here is my list as it stands today:. Awesome words I should totally use. Do you have any words you think I should add? Meeting with the Mentor. During the Meeting with the Mentor, the Mentor uses his experien...

Earl Grey Soliloquy: March 2015
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tests, Allies, and Enemies. After the Hero has crossed the first threshold, the bulk of the story begins. Most of the story takes place in the stage Tests, Allies, and Enemies. During this stage, the Hero is tested in preparation for the Ordeal, makes allies who help him, and enemies who hinder him. The stage of Tests, Allies, and Enemies is arguably the most important of the Hero's Journey. In it he grows, learns, adapts, and prepares for the stages ahead. This was waiting for us when we arrived! An Eth...

Earl Grey Soliloquy: You know it's August when...
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/08/you-know-its-august-when.html
You know it's August when. The school year is being planned, resulting in lists like this one:. You get mail like this:. Your desk drawers look like this:. Your room is feeling the effects of having four people sleep in it at once on several different occasions during the summer. But you're relishing the fact that you still have plenty of time to clean it! You're reading the last few Agatha Christie books you can squeeze in before you have to begin on school reading. Earl Grey Soliloquy: Gus's Birthday!
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/07/guss-birthday.html
Yesterday, Gus turned 23 years old! We had a very busy day with not much time for celebrating until the evening. Aunt Sue, Uncle Dave, and cousin Brenna arrived last night, as well as cousin Jacob, Patrick, and six or seven of Gus's college friends. Needless to say, it was a full house. Tessie and I got back from Totus Tuus and surveyed the onslaught of people before going to bed. Happy Birthday, Gus! I hope you liked the whale card I made you. =). I don't remember him this small. Earl Grey Soliloquy: Summer (aka the best season)
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-aka-best-season.html
Summer (aka the best season). Summer is going by way too fast. I have to start thinking about school. And that's depressing. But, this summer has been deliciously hot and sunny, and a great balance of incredibly-busy and empty-and-relaxing. Some things I've been up to:. Reading. A lot. I'm working my way through several more Agatha Christie novels this summer, as well as reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Which I'm almost done with and thoroughly enjoying. Cooking. It's very nice in our new kitchen. I am a m...

Earl Grey Soliloquy: April 2015
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
The score came in! I'm pretty happy with it, for being my first time. I need to improve on science and math. More photos of the house. Further photos, mostly of the interior. Stained glass on the front room window. The downstairs bathroom attached to it. Another stained glass window. The music room (sort of). Other view of the kitchen- there's a "servant staircase". Mom and Dad's bedroom. Upstairs hallway (the very last door is mine). Back view of the house. We own a house! After two years of searching!

Earl Grey Soliloquy: A fun weekend!
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-fun-weekend.html
On Friday Katie came over to spend the night, and for Claudia to take her senior pictures! I got to tag along (and carry everything), and we had a really fun time walking around taking photos. We went to a campground for some nature-esque ones and the next morning we walked downtown for more city-ish photos. They all turned out amazingly. Just two of hundreds! I got an official Carrier-of-Everything photo. Katie actually ended up staying an extra night and left after Mass this morning. 20 Christmas Gifts...

Earl Grey Soliloquy: Henebry Family Reunion
http://earlgreysoliloquy.blogspot.com/2015/08/henebry-family-reunion.html
This past weekend the entirety of Dad's side of the family gathered at our house for a family reunion: the first one since 1999. A bunch of Gus's college friends also came. We had fun doing a zillion different activities, including taking young cousins to the Children's Museum, going swimming, doing crafts, taking pictures, and of course eating and drinking! Uncle Dave even brought family T-shirts for everyone. On their last night we took them to the playground a few blocks away. Photo from Claudia.
