Joysticks: Happ Super vs. Wico Ball-Top. Preramble: There are a couple of really good in-depth joystick reviews/comparisons over at OSCAR Controls. That are definitely worth reading: Joystick Review. Compares the Happ Super Joystick, the Happ Competition Joystick, and the Happ Ultimate Joystick; and Joystick Review II. Compares the Happ Super Joystick to the Happ Perfect 360 Joystick. For this review, I have compared the two joysticks that I've had personal experience with: the Happ Controls. Well, belie...

SanzoGhenzo: Costruire un Cabinato MAME
http://sanzoghenzo.blogspot.com/2008/01/costruire-un-cabinato-mame.html
In par...

Mame Arcade Cabinet: October 2003
http://arcade.upup.us/2003_10_01_archive.html
October 29, 2003. Received the two Joypads today, and they work great. None of the latency or rapid push problems I had with the adapter. The gamepads themselves are almost exactly the same size and shape as the original Sony pad, but are a little bit lighter and the buttons are more responsive. Posted at 4:11 PM. October 26, 2003. Posted at 1:19 PM. October 20, 2003. Received the 3" blue trackball (looks really nice) and 17 pushbuttons from Bob Roberts. As well as some Halloween candy :). Got the SNES a...

CHRO-MAME
http://www.dave-gallagher.com/arcade
Updated: Thursday, December 2, 2004 @ 2:00pm EST. Sometime in late 2002 I ran across a small website. Fearing the social embarrassment of having to go around with a blue spleen for the rest of my life, I sought and acquired the only cure for the virus. CHRO-MAME was born (stands for Chromed Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. An elaborate 4-player MAME cabinet I designed and built from scratch. It boasts:. 27 Wells Gardner D9200 Arcade Monitor. Eight action buttons per player. Stereo Sound with Subwoofer.

MAMEGAP - Control Panel
http://www.mamegap.com/controlpanel.htm
Here we are. Lacking any creative talent, this was a big sticking point for me and one of the main reasons the project sat idle for years. The background is just a Photoshop cloud rendering. The artwork around the controls (arrows, etc.) and the font came from the super-nice Arcade Paradise. Guy The MAME logo was picked up somewhere on the net. I think Oscar of Oscar Controls. Originally designed it. The original MAME logo was a JPG, so I spent some time deleting the black around the logo. To move on to ...

ArcadePC Controllers
http://arcadepc.mameworld.info/Controllers.htm
From Richard Ragon stating that it was available NOW! I called Hanaho afterwards to ask a few more questions. Conway Ho, who handles much of the design and support of the HotRod and ArcadePC, filled me in on a lot of information that is simply not out there on Hanaho's web site. So I thought I would share the information I received with you. Firstly, Hanaho does have a trackball style controller (i.e. - Centipede) in two models. As a bonus, I got some great information from a fellow ArcadePC owner who pu...

The QuickSpin
http://www.gearheadlabs.com/spinner/index.htm
When it comes to spinners there aren't many options out there. The used market is pretty thin, Happ Controls. EDIT - Since this page was written Ultimarc has released the Spintrak. Which is pretty nice. If you can afford one, I highly recommend it. Like so many projects the cost might actually end up being close to buying a pre-built unit. Of course buying one doesn't satisfy those of us who thrill in saving 10 bucks by working 20 hours. The shaft assembly consists of a spinner knob, some Delrin washers ...
