This citrus laden cake will bring a ray of sunshine to your table during winter months. Inspired by traditional flavours from Sicily: tangy citrus fruits, smooth and nourishing almonds and texture rich semolina, it will satisfy all palates. Serve with vanilla yogurt to balance the tangy citrus notes.

An excellent everyday bread, a variation on the French “pain au levain” using liquid sourdough this can be made with different types of flour; try a spelt, wholemeal or grain version. The quantities make two loaves or a very large one; I usually make a tin loaf for sandwiches and a round loaf for pleasure. 340g (from the build up).

Things I like and then some. Eric Kayser turmeric bread. It’s quite an easy bread to make. The version sold in the bakery seems airier and less sweet, but I’ll have to buy it again to be sure. Also it contains hazelnuts, which is another reason I like it so much. It’s actually a pain viennois type of bread (containing milk, sugar and butter) with a pinch of turmeric to jolt jaded tastebuds? Eric Kayser Pain au Curcuma. 100g Leaven (i used a 100% wholewheat leaven). 5g Fresh yeast (I used 1g instant yeast).
