The night and half-light of dreams: September 2013

The night and half-light of dreams. The life and musings of a sensible, spiritual and sensual psychotherapist who will ever be Jung at heart. Sunday, 15 September 2013. Reflections on grace and on finally getting the Prodigal Son. I hate seeing people who don't deserve things get them. When I read that last Wednesday night, given the context (Miley Cyrus), I expected to agree and be exchanging 5s, left, right and centre; with a big fat 'YEAHHHHHH! Does a violet 'deserve' the same amount of rain as an oak?

Persephone, Ogboinba, Cybele, Oya: or, What Samhain can do for you, pt II. If you missed Pt I, you'll want to start here. And fell for the longest time. Persephone. Ogboinba. Cybele. Oya. With the exception of Oya, who wasn't drawn, but jumped out of the deck, not a single one of those goddesses was mine. But to do that would have been to...

The Red Tar Pit: July 2005
http://theredtarpit.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
The Red Tar Pit. Wanton abuse of a free vanity press. Sunday, July 31, 2005. A couple of years ago I tried to get Linda involved in playing golf. The conversation went something like this:. Would you like to learn how to play golf? Thusly thwarted I realized that a different approach would be required and, a few weeks later, I started casually mentioning the ways in which one could accessorize. Oh, look at these golf gloves with the hole in them for your wedding ring! And, the clincher. Indicaiton of whe...

After a home-made Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday, Linda and I jumped into the hot tub for an hour or two and enjoyed the snowfall. It was a perfect way to start the holiday season! Try and avoid the anime. Pikachu terrorizes New York City. Posted by Ed at 12:07 PM. Monday, November 21, 2005. If the word bitch. In the entry. If the word bitch. Used in this blog and thus avoiding any bitching. Linda...

The Red Tar Pit. Wanton abuse of a free vanity press. Monday, October 31, 2005. As promised, some Halloween picture fun! Our inflatable dinosaur was very excited to get dressed up this year for Halloween. He also got to hang out in the "black light room". The thing in the middle is my favorite Halloween decoration. It is a giant cone on a spring and it will bob for 20 minutes with a good thwack. Our animatronic chicken dressed up as a slasher. He does psychotic. Posted by Ed at 10:43 AM. I did something ...

The Red Tar Pit: June 2005
http://theredtarpit.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
The Red Tar Pit. Wanton abuse of a free vanity press. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. A good friend of mine was married this past weekend, and I had a chance to speak at his wedding. I have loved public speaking ever since I was a kid. I did all the "optimist's club" contests, won a few trips in my day, and grew up with Italians and lawyers in the family. Speech is in the blood. To answer that, I will point you to my wife, Linda. Many times, she reminds me of just how much marriage experience we really do.

Setting off on an Ignatian Prayer Adventure. A couple of months ago, I picked up The Ignatian Adventure. By Kevin O'Brien. I read the opening chapters, then put it down to pick up a couple of other books, finish a report, and have just sat down with it again to begin the Ignatian exercises. Right now, I'm on week 1, day 1. For I, the L ORD.

The night and half-light of dreams. The life and musings of a sensible, spiritual and sensual psychotherapist who will ever be Jung at heart. Monday, 15 December 2014. San Juan de la Cruz, meet Gaudete Sunday. Last week, I was on Facebook chat with a friend when this happened:. Clerical friend: The Czech church impressed me immensely. The archbishop is a hugely impressive man - spent time in prison under Communism but still full of joy. Or our current pope who I am totally in love with? Me: OMG. YES.

The night and half-light of dreams. The life and musings of a sensible, spiritual and sensual psychotherapist who will ever be Jung at heart. Tuesday, 23 July 2013. An example of how laterally my brain works: last night, something outside sounded like a bullfrog = so I posted on FB that he might be called Jeremiah = Three Dog Night = my favourite song by them. In fact, one of my favourite songs of all time. Their robes were black, Their heads were white,. The schoolhouse doors were closed so tight,.

The night and half-light of dreams. The life and musings of a sensible, spiritual and sensual psychotherapist who will ever be Jung at heart. Friday, 16 May 2014. Since 4 May, I have been doing Desmond Tutu's Forgiveness Challenge. After Iyanla Vanzant's four weeks back in December, I thought this would be easy. Pauses to laugh hysterically*. The first part of the challenge was listening to an interview with Alanis Morrisette, and then she said these words that struck home:. As long as we hold on to the ...
