we heart art: very BUSY spiders!
http://ourartlately.blogspot.com/2013/10/very-busy-spiders.html
Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Wednesday, October 23, 2013. I have just started an Eric Carle unit with my Kindergartners and First Graders! Eric Carle is one of my favorite artists, so I was so excited to start this unit with them. I showed them pieces and parts of the movie "Eric Carle: Picture Writer", focusing on the parts where he makes his painted papers. The next day we read Eric Carle's book "The Very Busy Spider" and discussed the theme of WORK! October 27, 2013 at 5:36 PM. I am a m...
we heart art: makin' macchia
http://ourartlately.blogspot.com/2012/02/makin-macchia.html
Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Wednesday, February 22, 2012. My kindergartners are making these beautiful "Macchia" in the style of Dale Chihuly. These are SUPER duper easy to make and every single one of them turns out breathtakingly beautiful. Before we even started, I showed them a portion of the video "Chihuly in Action" so they could see how glass is actually blown and made. We then viewed some macchia from the Macchia Loop. 3 coffee filters per child. Cups or yogurt containers. It take...
we heart art: "Z" is for Zebra
http://ourartlately.blogspot.com/2010/10/z-is-for-zebra.html
Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Thursday, October 14, 2010. Z" is for Zebra. These zebras were so much fun to make with my Kindergartners! You sure can hit a BUNCH of benchmarks with these- line, shape, color, pattern, scissor skills, etc. Cup white tempera paint. Funky" scissors (or regular scissors will do! This project took us two days, a day for doing the zebra, and a day for mounting and adding the framing patterns. They turned out sooo well, I can't wait to do this again with them!
we heart art: Alphabet Birds
http://ourartlately.blogspot.com/2010/11/alphabet-birds.html
Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Monday, November 8, 2010. It kills me. Why do they feel this way? Because their work doesn't look like anyone else's? Because they can't draw? I did these multi-media birds with my Kindergartners. We started with drawing with white crayon on black paper. They knew there were only two chances to get it right.the front and the back of the paper. If they "messed up" on both, they had to figure out how to "dress up their mess-up" and make it work. Z" is for Zebra.
we heart art: Paper Plate Tree Weavings
http://ourartlately.blogspot.com/2014/10/paper-plate-tree-weavings.html
Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Paper Plate Tree Weavings. This was one of those projects this year that my fifth graders LOVED. Consequently, so did all of my other grade levels and now they can't wait to make them too! I saw this idea on Pinterest. And she originally used large macrame hoops as the loom. She then simplified it down and used Chinette plates (which work out JUST fine, though the hoops are absolutely gorgeous! October 15, 2014 at 3:11 PM. September 1...

COLOR for EVERYONE: May 2015
http://colorforeveryone.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Adventures in Elementary ART. Saturday, May 16, 2015. These sun paintings were inspired from book "Up and Down the Andes". Painted suns with different values of yellows and oranges that I had mixed up. Black lines for face, and colored backgrounds with a blue crayon. I got this idea from another website or blog? Our kindergarteners were learning about Peru, so I did something as well. These were gorgeous! I used several for displays around school, in my room, and in the community for various art displays.
COLOR for EVERYONE: Pinch Pot Birds and Mixed Media Fish
http://colorforeveryone.blogspot.com/2015/05/pinch-pot-birds-and-mixed-media-fish.html
Adventures in Elementary ART. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Pinch Pot Birds and Mixed Media Fish. Both of these lessons were displayed together in our display case at school. It was only fitting to share them together. The birds were made by third graders. The clay is cone 06 white stoneware. Students first created pinch pots and scored and slipped parts on to make birds. Holes were added for legs. After they were fired in kiln students glazed at then were fired I think at a cone 05. View my complete profile.

April 24, 2011. For every major examination, we need to study and prepare for it. For some of us, it is easy to pass with flying colours. For others, no matter how hard they study, they just don’t make it. Last night, I thought of IVF like an examination. It’s something you can retake and try again. For exams, you can’t re-take too many times, or can you? It’s the same with IVF. But then I asked, why do I go through this round of IVF then? I have no idea. April 22, 2011. I’ve come to Day 9 which fa...

Art Lessons by Grade. Art Lessons by Media. Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Teacher Appreciation Week 2016. It was no small feat to try and top last year's Wall of Thanks for teacher appreciation.but I think we did it! I present to you. I had my fourth and fifth graders choose a couple of teachers to turn into superheroes. Some gave capes and crowns.others let the title and writing take care of the creativity! This is me ;).
