On Georgia's Mind: August 2011
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Tuesday, August 09, 2011. This post is written from a raw, gut-level, visceral place. It isn't for everyone.*. On July 16, 2011, my baby brother, Paul Hickenbottom, Jr., known as Sam to most everyone, passed away. He was 25. Implies something peaceful, with soft music in the background, family gathered around, and then your loved one just drifts off into the afterlife. As if your family member had actually expired. At the funeral home. But I am angry.

On Georgia's Mind: It's A Morbid Day In The Neighborhood
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-morbid-day-in-neighborhood.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Thursday, April 21, 2011. It's A Morbid Day In The Neighborhood. Which is why putting our wills together the last few days and discussing our final arrangements has been, well, such a downer. Planning who will take care of my children (and asking those people! Planning who will manage the inheritance those children would get (and asking those people! Who will make sure my wishes are carried out if Brian is not here? I felt being at the funeral home, ...

On Georgia's Mind: July 8, 2011
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2011/07/july-8-2011.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Friday, July 08, 2011. July 8, 2011. Because it looked from the pictures that she might be okay, but I didn't really trust my own judgment. When I was finally able to get out of bed and go to the NICU, I looked at my fat baby and said, "She's so beautiful! And my daughter, who looked a little like Alfred Hitchcock in profile, whose daddy had been visiting and talking to her around the clock, turned for the first time, at the sound of my. Happy birthd...

On Georgia's Mind: My Dance Card...
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2011/08/my-dance-card.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Monday, August 08, 2011. I'm not going back to school. And I don't know if I ever will. I just don't want it bad enough. Two girls in school. Another girl and a boy going to their "school" 3 days per week. One girl dancing. Two girls soccering. I've signed on to lead not one, but two Girl Scout troops. BSF begins in mid-September. My scrapbooking clubs still like to scrapbook from time to time. I Can Do. It. If no one gets sick. So proud of you.

On Georgia's Mind: An Equal Number of Blueberries
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2012/01/equal-number-of-blueberries.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Tuesday, January 03, 2012. An Equal Number of Blueberries. My response to an email I received from a woman who lost her brother last spring to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It was a little painful to go back there, but very helpful, too. On Christmas morning, I got a poignant reminder of him as I was making blueberry muffins for my family. He and I used to watch the movie Casino. Do you know how long that's going to take? I Am Jack's Detached Cornea.

On Georgia's Mind: The Hidden Star Quilt--Update
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2008/07/hidden-star-quilt-update.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. The Hidden Star Quilt- Update. I have been furiously working on my newest quilting project. Here. Is the opening discussion. I did buy the new sewing machine and am glad to see that there was actually a real difference in quality of my sewing. My teacher remarked last night had I not used the new machine for this quilt, it is likely that I would have become so frustrated that I would have quit the project altogether. This wa...

On Georgia's Mind: I Am Jack's Detached Cornea
http://georgiasmind.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-am-jacks-detached-cornea.html
Random observations, convictions, epiphanies and more. Monday, June 22, 2009. I Am Jack's Detached Cornea. Brian finally went back to work this week after being home the whole of last week with a detached epithelium, the first layer of the cornea. This is the 2nd time this has happened. I hope we don't have a 3rd time. My last trip to L&D for contractions proved taking them anywhere like that was. A very bad idea. Could we call someone? Who knew how long we would be there? Monday, we waited 2 hours to be...
