Our Surrendered Lives: April 2014
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 18, 2014. I wanna be just like YOU, cause he wants to be just like me. I want a new heart like you Mommy, and I want a heart like Daddy. but I don't know how." These sweet sounding words said through tears and brokenness are the plea of a surrendered life. A plea of a soul that is seeking, knocking, and ultimately of letting go of self. This moment we were sharing was not pretty, it was full of tears and snot, and blubbery voices and flat out "ugly cry" moments. Our son's prayer went on in ...

Our Surrendered Lives: hacked...
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2015/04/hacked.html
Monday, April 20, 2015. Bethany, I have hacked your blog.I'm sorry. Butonce upon a time. Almost 12 years ago, I stood at your parents fireplace, looked into your eyes, and said I promise, forever. I really didn't understand what the promise meant then. I just said it, thinking I understood the weight of that promise, but not really having a clue. Through hurt and pain, and times that we just can't stand each other, we journey on, together. During the 5k's, we stuck together. You go, we go. You go, we go.

Our Surrendered Lives: February 2015
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Mile marker 6 and 7. I ran a race a while ago. It was the first half marathon I had ran in over ten years. Bethany and I were able to get away for the weekend to go run this race; it was a great time. Walking around historic Charleston was the best. I have always considered myself a giving person. Bethany and I were even discussing it last night after one of our son's ran his debit card instead of our debit card in the grocery line. I promised myself that I would never forget...

Our Surrendered Lives: March 2015
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Warning: Personal thoughts about to be spoken, if you do not agree that is ok but this is based on my perception of what our culture has turned Bible Study into. (Specifically speaking about women's ministry but applies to all.). I believe Bible Study has become a misleading assurance that you are doing what God has called you to do. Before you slam your computer shut or press the home button on your smart phone hear me out. Bible Study has become the Mecca for women on. Five day...

Our Surrendered Lives: September 2014
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 5, 2014. I was listening to David Platt today and he asked the question, "how does one know when God is calling them to do something? Platt went on to say that God normally doesn't roll back the clouds and with a big booming voice say, "Go there.". After hearing David Platt say this today, I have to admit some skepticism on my part. Forgive me, but I am still learning and I would still like to bet that the rolling back the clouds method would be better for me. I write a lot. And I'm...

Our Surrendered Lives: March 2014
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 30, 2014. Will you be 2nd or 3rd? You are first, but will you be second? Essentially, this is what we asked our oldest son when we adopted children older than him. I was the oldest child of five and found myself very proud of my position in the family. To be honest, I do not believe I would have relinquished my rights if faced with the same question my son is faced with now. Jesus Christ, the only son of God, makes room at his table not for servants, but for his brothers and sisters. It rea...

Our Surrendered Lives: November 2014
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 27, 2014. Anyone who has met me knows right off that I haven't missed too many meals. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever missed any, and am certain I have had a few extra. But we have a son in our house whose mouth will always bear the scars of having teeth rotted out from malnutrition. Letters from his grandparents describing him going days without food also attest to the depravity. One of my favorite authors said,. We ask God, 'why are so many people dying of starvation?

Our Surrendered Lives: June 2014
http://oursurrenderedlives.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 28, 2014. This past Wednesday we did a first. As we started to head out to the pool the clouds rolled in, and it began to thunder. The kids were in complete disappointment! With pouty lips, all the kids grabbed their towels and slowly walked back into the house. Normally I would make this a stay home movie day, but instead, I did the unthinkable! Hey guys, let's go to the mall! This truly is the unthinkable because I really do not like the mall! So off we went into the double doors. We...

Thursday, June 18, 2015. When God closes doors there are times I want to knock that door down with full force and kick and scream my way through until it is wide open again. That does not go over well, ever! This past week we have been struggling to accept a closed door. I have cried, I have tried will all "my" power to push that door back open but it has remained shut. Oh what I would do, and have tried to do, to get that door open again. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Keep up with our latest posts! Pictur...

Friday, March 1, 2013. GOOD OLE KANSAS WEATHER. We were quarantined in our house for 5 days straight, not only because of the bad weather, but also because Maezy was sick. It was a LONG 5 days, folks! On Thursday, since most people had to work from home, Kenzi and I decided to go get Finn and Maezy a cheap little snow sled so that they could play in the snow. Finn had a blast! Maezynot so much. She's a true Texas girl at heart, I guess! Friday, February 15, 2013. FEBRUARY 14, 2013. FEBRUARY 3, 2013.

Our Surrogacy Journey
Saturday, March 8, 2014. Yes, She's "Mine, Mine.". Long time no blog.and no wonder! If you can believe it, I'm teaching one of my babies how to drive and another one how to walk! I'll be the first to admit that I feel older this go around. When I had Maddy and Nick I was in my early 20's.having a baby in my mid-late (ahh! 30's has been quite an adjustment! Cut to the Chase. What Does, "Yes, She's Mine, Mine" Mean? So what has my feathers ruffled? I know it indeed does, which leads me to conclude that the...
Our Surrogacy | A journey to India
A journey to India. April 15, 2014. Comments 2 Comments on Some thoughts. After speaking with Zoe Daniels on Radio National’s Life Matters program yesterday, I wanted to repeat a point that Zoe made and that I had hoped to mention myself. We do not view this as exploitation because we see them as on an equal footing to us – but how demeaning and judgmental is that? Does it not in itself take away the autonomy and power that these women have and suggest that they are worse off than us? There is no easy an...
