July 23 | Our Travels with Rover | David Bratt
http://www.ourtravelswithrover.com/2013-blog/july-23.html
Our Travels with Rover. An American RV in Europe. July 22 ». Our bus-ferry-train-bus trip from our Berlin campground to Potsdam served us well. We were standing in line at the Sansoucci Palace before the ticket office opened at 10 am and were part of the third group allowed in. True German palace overload for one. Warm day. But the bus-train-ferry-biergarten-bus return worked well, and since Rover’s campingplatz has been in the shade in the afternoon, she isn’t even to hot to return home to.

Our Travels with Rover. An American RV in Europe. July 28 ». Two long days of driving brought us from Prague back to Amsterdam, where we camped for one night while we did laundry, packed and winterized Rover. On our trip there, we had seen an RV store from the autobahn and taken the next exit to get to it (it was only about 100 feet ahead). There we found- wait for it- antifreeze! For our drinking water plumbing system! This year our shortened trip was 2111 miles- 25% of that during the last two days, ge...

Our Travels with Rover. An American RV in Europe. Things They Don't Tell You. 1 Propane seems to be able to reproduce itself. This makes it impossible to empty the LPG tank, even if you run the furnace nearly full time for days on end while traveling to the port on the US East Coast. This can present problems if your shipping company wants the tank to be empty: ours did. Of course, and apparently so do all the others. She also asked,Can you get it there tomorrow? 4 So you shell out another 12 for yet ano...

The Lille-Stanges: March 2013
http://lillestange.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Monday, March 18, 2013. Introducing. . . We were blessed with the arrival of a healthy baby boy on the 23rd of February, just two days before my own birthday. Henrik David weighed in at 3.93 kilograms (8lbs 10oz) and 51cm (20in) long. Erik had two weeks free from his job after the birth (thank you Norway! And my mom is now visiting for two weeks. Greta stortrives. Is thriving) and is a flink. Who am I, really?
The Lille-Stanges: The latest on the "jordmor sak"

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The latest on the "jordmor sak". Writing updates on my quest for authorization as a nurse and midwife here in Norway has become such a daunting, confusing and downright depressing task, that I have opted to avoid writing any blog updates at all, as I felt that I owed you all a professional update first and foremost. The stories were crazy. . . So how does that work exactly? So, as these ...

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Bachelorette days in Oslo. I moved into a bachelor's apartment in Oslo on Monday, as I began a four-week long nasjonal fag kurs for sykepleie. I should instead begin my nursing education again, or try to get a few measly courses from my pathetic education approved by a nursing program and maybe, just maybe. So, why am I taking the class, you ask, since it is no longer required? I am ne...

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Will I ever write again? Maybe, maybe not. . . I've written some really great blog entries at 4am, while I'm awake and nursing Henrik. Too bad you can't read them, as they are only written in my head. Way, doing my American taxes (yes, I know it's now April 24th), finishing Henrik's baby blanket, and, last but not least, sewing a pair of bunad bukser. But honestly, who can fault her?

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Merry Christmas and God Jul! Merry Christmas from the Winter Wonderland! I have much I'd love to write about- my month in Oslo, the class experience, the update on the nursing stuff, work-related, Christmas reflections- but it has been a busy and exhausting month. A Merry Christmas and here is to prosperous and Happy 2013 to you all! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Who am I, really? Our che...
The Lille-Stanges: November 2014
http://lillestange.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Tuesday, November 18, 2014. My first-born, now 6-year old missing her 7. Tooth, started school in Norway on August 18. There is no kindergarten for 5 year old in Norway, and I’ve learned at our first parent meeting that had I attended elementary school in Norway, I would not have begun school until ripe old age of 7 (as I believe is still the case in Finland)! 8212;on what the hours of school are for the 1. We had...

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. All Signs Point to Yes. Remember the Magic 8 Ball? You ask it a yes or no question, shake it and get a "prediction"? My question for the last 4 years and 7 months has been, "Will I be authorized to work as a nurse and midwife in Norway? We , feel that the Magic 8 Ball is telling us:. Here is a link to an NRK news report that came out that day:. NRK and SAK 13. May. Now SAK is changing the ru...

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Monday, May 4, 2015. Clever Russ. . . they changed the word "ferist" (cattle guard). To "Fest" (party), and made the speed bumps. Into breasts and nipples. Norwegian high school takes students through the age of 19, or through the 13. Grade, by American standards (college is then 3 years, in comparison). The graduating students are known, during the final weeks of school, as “ Russ. Of May is Norway’s nation...
The Lille-Stanges: February 2013

Follow our American family of 4 ( one dog) as we begin our new life in Lillehammer, Norway. Thursday, February 21, 2013. Hope is waning and FAQs. Our two options at this point are essentially using a sivilombudsman. Kind of a civil court of judges) to review the case. And/or hiring an attorney. I thought I'd take a few minutes and address some of the questions and suggestions (all well-intentioned, of course) that I've received over the last few months about what-exactly-is-the-problem? So, no. There...

Our Travels Together | A couple discovering the world one destination at a time.
A couple discovering the world one destination at a time. We took a weekend getaway to Chattanooga in March of this year. We never knew this little gem was so easy to get to. When we started looking for places to stay, we heard about a little B &B from some friends of ours on Twitter. The inn is called The General Woods Inn. While we visited the inn, Nadine made us dinner reservations at a very popular restaurant called the Canyon Grill. The restaurant sits on top of Lookout Mountain. There are so many s...

From Georgia to Uganda...again
From Georgia to Uganda.again. Follow my journey back to Uganda. Thursday, September 23, 2010. So, I have made a list of things I'm excited about seeing in Uganda as well as those things that I don't particularly care for. Ready? These guys are about 4 feet tall and linger all in the city especially around trash piles. They are disguisting to me! And then they will nest in trees, but they look so heavy that it seems as though the tree is going to break. Yeah, NOT looking forward to these! Super excited ab...
