From the Balcony

Monday, May 14, 2012. Say hi to Heidelberg. Last month Karen and I were visiting a good friend in Frankfurt when we struck upon the idea of taking a day trip South to the town of Heidelberg. People have remarked how charming the city was, and I had been reading the Mark Twain's A Tramp Abroad. With much delight, so it was an easy choice to take the hour long train ride. When we completed the steep walk up to the castle grounds, the three of us were greeted with a lively atmosphere of musicians, clowns an...

From the Balcony: February 2012

http://ourviewfromthebalcony.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 26, 2012. If there is one thing I like, it's a parade and Köln's legendary Rosenmontag Zug did not disappoint. On Shrove Monday morning, Kyle and I got dressed up (I as a red-cheeked clown, he as an overgrown gnome) and took a train 20 minutes to downtown Köln. Carnival is a big deal in the Rhine region. The Carnival season begins on the 11th of November at 11:11 am. Between then at its culmination on Rose Monday, there are parties, concerts, and parades. This site. And organized it is!

From the Balcony: New Years in Berlin

http://ourviewfromthebalcony.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-years-in-berlin.html

Sunday, January 29, 2012. New Years in Berlin. I'm always a fan of New Year's Eve. Most folks think there is a lot of hype around the holiday, but I think it is an important one to observe. Luckily, everyone and their brother in Berlin agrees with me and I was treated to one of my most memorable nights in the city. I had been warned of the citywide celebrations on Silvester. Like all good things, the celebrations slowly came to an end in the wee hours of the night and Karen and I tromped back through the...

From the Balcony: Beuel Bound

http://ourviewfromthebalcony.blogspot.com/2012/02/beuel-bound.html

Friday, February 24, 2012. The long anticipated Karneval season has swept through the Rhineland last weekend and took us for quite a colorful ride. The main festivities kicked off last Thursday morning in a celebration known as Weiberfastnacht. Seize the day, but by one o'clock I retreated from the rain and cold for the comforts of my apartment. Plus, I knew I had to rest up for the big parties in the coming days. More about that mayhem soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

From the Balcony: The 'Bonn' Voyage

http://ourviewfromthebalcony.blogspot.com/2012/02/bonn-voyage.html

Saturday, February 11, 2012. Five hours Southwest of Berlin and nestled on the Rhein river. Bonn is the former capital of Germany following WWII and grew into quite an international town. It is home to a prestigious university that was a favorite among royalty, but it is most known as the birthplace of Beethoven! As luck would have it, we found a cute little attic apartment. In the center of town that looks over the Beethovenhaus. Beethovenhaus from our window. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Our View From Here. Perspectives of Five Women. Thank you, and goodnight! Hello, blog readers! The “Our View From Here” team. I Want to Ride My Bicycle. Now I have the urge to ride my bike to work. Our View From Iowa | observations from Jim and Melanie about the world around us

Our View From Iowa. Observations from Jim and Melanie about the world around us. Jim: Do you want to go to the right or the left? Melanie: I don’t care. I’m sorry sometimes I don’t have an opinion. Jim: That’s okay. You make up for it by having strong opinions on some things. This entry was posted in Outdoors. August 13, 2015. They would not cover it. View from the Edge

View from the Edge. This blog is the wild, crazy, sometimes painfully honest journey of a woman who lives on the edge and loves it there! Saturday, July 02, 2011. It's time. Time to resurface from a long trip to the depths. I gotta tell ya, over the last few years, I've hardly known what to do or say. Even one day at a time has sometimes been too much. My life fell apart, and what does a girl do as her heart's getting put back together piece by piece? Monday, May 02, 2011. Remember Where You Were? It was...

Our View From The Road. February 5, 2018 · 7:00 am. Word for the week… Inspirate. This is a video from a while back. Showing her medal off! We are sad that the Olympics have come to an end, we had so much fun. Our View From The Sidelines.
