How a couple of Baby Boomers caught the RV bug
The Planned Trip West – Segment 1 « Our Wander Years
http://www.ourwanderyears.com/blog/the-planned-trip-west-segment-1
The Planned Trip West – Segment 1. Here is the planned route:. Segment 1 - 17 Nights and 754 Miles. The starting point, of course, is the Saddleback Campground in Northwood, NH. The destination is a campground in Reston, VA, where we plan to spend a week with the Jett’s sons and the grandkids before heading west. The stops along the way are as follows:. C – Two nights at Pine Acres Resort. Jett’s digestive issues. Starr Farm Dog Park. Cheap truck repairs… or so I thought. Putting in the docks.
Workcamping « Our Wander Years

But that is part of the adventure. Which brings me to workcamping. 8220;Workcamping” is working while camping. In the context of an RV fulltimer, it means finding work while you are on the road, which is what I am talking about here. There are several web sites that exist solely to match campers with jobs. One of the best is www.workkamper.com. The job listings are by subscription, but the annual cost is nominal ($42). A free one which I just discovered is www.work-for-rvers-and-campers.com. One other po...
Budgeting for Real – Expenses « Our Wander Years
http://www.ourwanderyears.com/blog/budgeting-for-real-expenses
Budgeting for Real – Expenses. First, the monthly expenses. These were complicated by two obligations that we have: braces for Jett’s granddaughter and a leased car for my son. Both ran to about $200 a month and both were scheduled to expire / finish at the end of 2013. C (campground fees) – $800. D (truck and coach expenses) – $700. E (entertainment and recreation) – $200. F (food) – $550. H (health insurance) – $1,500 thru 2013, then less. M (miscellaneous) – $1,315 thru 2013, then less. Miscellaneous ...
Saddleback Campground and Lucas Pond « Our Wander Years
http://www.ourwanderyears.com/blog/saddleback-campground-and-lucas-pond
Saddleback Campground and Lucas Pond. If you look closely at the foreground you will see that the access to the site is sloped and bends quite sharply. Backing a big fifth wheel up a slope and around this corner is no job for a 3/4-ton truck. I am thinking it might be better to hire the campground host to bring the coach to the site. You mean those trees don’t just drop shade on the site? That they also drop PITCH? That my new (to me anyway) coach is going to leave in September covered in pine pitch?
The Planned Trip West – Segment 4 « Our Wander Years
http://www.ourwanderyears.com/blog/the-planned-trip-west-segment-4
The Planned Trip West – Segment 4. Segment 4 - 16 Nights and 1,147 Miles. Stops along the way:. B – Lone Pine, CA (247 miles, 2 nights). There aren’t a lot of RV parks in Death Valley, so we will be staying in one just to the west… if we survive. I think there is a possibility that we will spend just one night here because, really, how much can there be to keep our interest in a town named Lone Pine? The Last Picture Show. Though – that was Texas. Jett’s digestive issues. Starr Farm Dog Park.

Our Wanderlust — Exploring the World
Large family vacation Playa Del Carmen- Day Two. March 30, 2015. Puerto Aventuras Cancun Mexico- Day One Arrival and Mexican Wal-Mart. March 17, 2015. When we first arrived at the Cancun Airport we realized that budget airline Frontier unloads their airplanes on the tarmac and busses passengers into the customs terminal. No big deal we thought… until we just barely missed the first bus and ended up standing in the hot sun for 15 minutes waiting for the next bus. Buy the giant green reusable grocery sacks...

Our Wander Years
TC1 Days 8 & 9: At sea. The days are starting to blend together. The big event for me on Day 8 (Tuesday) was my first beer on board (not counting the beer tasting on Day 2). I read on the aft deck for much of the afternoon, finishing. By Jeffery Deaver (described in the previous post). I worked on the second puzzle in the late afternoon and it was nearly complete when I left. Dinner was formal and we actually attended this one. Good thing because Dave skipped it, so if we hadn’t shown up Jeff a...The fau...
