Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Last Sunday the P2P leaders held the last orientation meeting along with a Bon Voyage party for our upcoming trip to Australia. We had a wonderful time socializing and eating snacks prepared by Mrs. Lazio and her daughter. We had food that related to Australian cuisine along with a variety of cupcakes and fruit punch. Sunday, June 26, 2011. Live from Sydney, Australia. We made the plane trip with no problems. We arrived in Sydney on Friday around 8 am. Talk about a tired bunch of students. We met our delegation manager who the students have named "Tony T". He has been a fantastic manager. We ended the day by visiting a store that demonstrated how opals are mined and the students had an opportunity to buy opals. When we left our home stay families in Sydney, we then went to participate in Full On which was a full day of activities designed to help students challenge themselves. Our challenges included breaking boards and absailing down a 180 foot rock cliff. Can you say WOOOO! All the students thought this was a fantastic day. Until next time,. Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Hope everyone had a great fourth of July celebration! The delegates celebrated by going to Olsen's Capricorn Caves in the morning. Can't say that caves are on my list of favorite things. Several delegates felt the same way-especially once the lights were cut off and everyone was in total darkness. Talk about some nervous people! We also met a town councilman from Rockhampton. For supper, we had croc soup (tastes like chicken) along with steak and fresh vegetables from their farm.
