Did you know that 100 million people in China live under $1 a day? This statistic and various winter and summer microfinance trips to China influenced the members of Timely Rain to found and expand Timely Rain to help loan to people without access to regular loans so that they could improve their living conditions. In a similar way, Timely Rain determines loans and loan sizes; loans generally yearly are have an interest rate of 0.6% per month (7.2% per year) plus 1/12 of the principal or 0.8% per month (9.6% per year). These rates are quite low in comparison to other microloans, whose interest rates often are 30% a year or more. Kickoff Meeting: May 17, 2013.
