Thursday, February 10, 2011. January 24th, Tortoise Country. As has been my custom on this trip, I headed out before breakfast to shoot some bird photos. I found some friendly finches once again, and had some great views of a Galapagos Flycatcher. Small Tree Finch eating an insect. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. January 25th, Snorkeling With Penguins. Happiness is a warm lava rock - Marine Iguana, Isabela Island, Galapagos. I finally got some good use of the big camera lens and tripod, which up until this point had been a lot of extra weight to lug around. As the sun slowly crept up, the lighting kept getting better and better, and before I knew it, I had burned through 308 photos! After breakfast, we split the group into four boats, and headed out to a nearby islet called Isla Tortuga.

As this was our final day here, it gave me a chance to soak it all in and reflect on what an amazing experience this trip has been so far. Sunday, February 6, 2011. January 18th, Amazonia. Grassland ecosystem at 13,000 feet. We boarded the bus early in the morning and headed out on a seven hour bus ride to the Amazon. The trip was an amazing lesson on the variety of ecosystems in Ecuador.
