Sultan Seyyid Said’s youngest daughter who wrote, “Memoirs of an Arabian Princess.” She seemed strong willed and determined to learn about the world and live a limitless life, which was commendable for a women living in the last 1800’s and even more so for a muslim woman. Tourism seems to be a big contributor to Zanibar’s economy. The restaurants in Stone Town and the beaches were very tourist friendly. Labels: Memoirs of an Arabian Princess.

Entrepreneurship in Tanzania: Day 1: Makonde Craft Village

http://paceintanzania.blogspot.com/2008/04/day-1-makonde-craft-village.html

Saturday, March 15, 2008. Day 1: Makonde Craft Village. The Makonde people are famous for their African blackwood carvings. We had the pleasure of visiting their main carving center in Mwenge in Dar es Salam. The center consisted of a series of small stalls that sold wooden carvings as well, decorative textiles, footwear and ornaments. Haggling over the price of merchandise was quite entertaining. The vendors were also extremely persistent. Labels: in Mwenge in Dar es Salam. View my complete profile.
