The Abrahamic religions get a pretty bad rep for the bit of the book that endorses the “convert or die” mentality. Yes, I am well aware that even today there are faithful who agree with this principle. It really does complicate the whole ideal of tolerance when a basic teaching of a faith encourages intolerance. April 26, 2015. I love violets. They’re pretty, they’re tasty, and they grow all over my yard and just went into bloom. I tried my hand as sugaring them. Victorians did it, how hard can it be. Today, out of a bout 40 blooms I have about 5 that still look like violets. the rest are shriveled purple lumps. I will still eat the lumps, but that’s really not the target.
