http://languagelinguisticsconlangs.blogspot.com/2011/03/vranse-part-1-creating-idea.html
Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs. Saturday, March 5, 2011. Vránsé - Part 1: Creating the Idea. Hello, this post will be the first in a series about Vránsé (pronounced vrahn-say), a conlang I am creating as part of my participation in a game called Imperium Nova. I then set about looking for tools to help me create the sound changes using IPA. And a free dictionary program to track vocabulary. I ended up using IPA Zounds. For sound changes and WeSay. http://languagelinguisticsconlangs.blogspot.com/2011/03/vranse-part-2-beginning-of-vocabulary.html
Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs. Sunday, March 20, 2011. Vránsé - Part 2: Beginning of Vocabulary. Sorry for the delay. It's been a busy month for me. Anyways, today I will be describing the process I used to begin the creation of Vránsé's vocabulary. Now, I didn't create the vocabulary all at once, rather, I've been creating it as needed. House de Erwyne on Imperium Nova Wiki. Has some examples of Vránsé. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs Amazon aStore.

Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs: The Contraction Everyone Loves to Hate
http://languagelinguisticsconlangs.blogspot.com/2011/02/contraction-everyone-loves-to-hate.html
Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs. Thursday, February 24, 2011. The Contraction Everyone Loves to Hate. I'm talking about that much maligned English contraction ain't. I'm sure you've often heard "'ain't' isn't a word" or some variation of this phrase, often using ain't. Well, today I'll be talking a bit about this word and touch on prescriptivist grammar in general as well. With normal sound changes morphing it from am't. Amongst others. What may be most surprising for most people is that ain't. Means...

Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs. Saturday, March 26, 2011. Language vs. Dialect. Taking a break from conlanging for a bit, so today I will be talking about what is a language, what is a dialect, as well as many related things. So if the layman's way of dividing languages and dialects doesn't hold up, how do we, and linguists, do it? A dialect is a regional variety of language. Dialects normally do not have definite boundaries; they blend with a neighboring dialect so that there is a more-or-less ...

Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs: February 2010
http://languagelinguisticsconlangs.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Language, Linguistics, and Conlangs. Saturday, February 27, 2010. Etymology: "Bride" and "Groom". Originally I planned to do this twice a week, but with my busy schedule, I think once a week on Saturday is going to be it for me. At least for now. Today we will examine the origin of the words bride. Dates from 1604, and is a shortened form of bridegroom. Bridegroom comes to us via Old English brydguma. Meaning "suitor" and is a compound of the words bryd. Bride", and guma. Is the ancestor of the word bride.
