Left and Right Coasts. I had several video projects in Mexico during the late 80's and early 90's, but I always carried a b/w film camera in my video bag. I often saw scenes that were best captured in that medium, and only wish I had more. Edward Weston's Daybook on Mexico was an inspiration - he talked about the quality of light there, and once I saw it, I knew what he meant. Puerto Peñasco, Mexico - 2004. Left and Right Coasts. Carbon Ink Digital Prints. I’ve been making conventional darkroom-processed black and white photographs for over forty years but lately I’ve been slowly persuaded that making quality black and white photographs from this new technique can be superior in many ways. This is hard for me to admit. I never imagined I would come to this point, being a rather traditional person. So, what is a carbon ink digital print? For me, the image starts in one of two ways:.

Left and Right Coasts. I spent much of my life in the midwest, an area of the country sometimes overlooked by folks on the coasts. Areas in the heartland are equally deserving of our care and appreciation. Waupaca, Wisconsin - 1977. Data-size="107.28 kB" data-isimage="true" data-width="800" data-height="598". About

http://www.paulwhitingphotography.com/About.html

Left and Right Coasts. Photograph What You Love. Someone once told me the "city was my palette". I rather like that. When I tell someone I'm a photographer and I live in Montana, they'll invariably think of beautiful scenery, wildlife, that sort of thing. I did try taking what I ended up calling "postcard photos" or "calendar photos", but soon tired of that. So many others do a much better job at that than I. Lately I've been concentrating on the essence of a building, the details that give it a distinct...

Photoartman's World: April 2014

http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Stayed up late last night to watch the blood moon. At about 1:30 am I got some great photos from my backyard. A little Lightroom and Photoshop work this morning and I have a rather nice image. I wish this was the view from my backyard, but it isn't. I had to composite the moon with an image of the rims but I think it works. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Billings, Montana, United States. View my complete profile.

Photoartman's World: Out of Hibernation

http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014/02/out-of-hibernation_28.html

Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Friday, February 28, 2014. I guess it is ironic that the day I finally come out of hibernation with a new post is also the first day of a multi-day snow storm. I have a couple of announcements that I am kind of proud of - the publication of a small photography book entitled Hosta Studies through the MagCloud website. Check out the link below. And one of those hosta images was included in a prestigious show. View my complete profile.

Photoartman's World: March 2014

http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Monday, March 10, 2014. This winter I have worked on a lot of images, but haven't shared them. Over the next couple of weeks I will rectify that. To start off I have some chokecherry leaf images that are interesting. Just before the leaves fall they get very brittle. Weird shapes start appearing and its at this time I take out my camera. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Billings, Montana, United States. View my complete profile.

Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Last week in Sioux Falls. The highlight though was a trip with my niece Lexi to CH Patisserie. Top Chef Just Desserts season two winner Chris Hanmer just opened this restaurant in downtown Sioux Falls and the desserts are incredible! I had a tart and Lexi a mound of what seemed like pure chocolate. It was silky smooth - a must have for all chocolate lovers! Thursday, July 11, 2013. Friday, July 5, 2013.

Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Wednesday, November 6, 2013. How I create an image for my Windows series. Finally, as promised I have put together a little video on how I put together the Windows series images. I tried to do a screen capture video. It is very rough and probably a little vague at times. I will try a few more in the future. Who knows they might even get better. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Billings, Montana, United States.

Reflections of a pastor who happens to be gay. In 2004, my book. Was published. It was a collection of spiritual reflections together with a personal coming out story. This site is about how I have journeyed with my love for church, my openess about who I am, my quest for spiritual growth, and the things (and people) that make life fulfilling. When I'm out of professional role, I'm a quiet and unassuming guy, and maybe I've not said enough about the 50 plus years I've been around. So this is it.
