Mind Grapes: Rebekah saved the day!
http://peggythenewsjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/05/rebekah-saved-day.html
Friday, May 13, 2011. Rebekah saved the day! I thought all hope was lost for the Publix win, CVS fail post when Blogger kind of lost it, but Rebekah. Told me her posts were still in Google Reader. Mine were too! So here's the lost blog post. Thanks again, Rebekah! We've settled on a shopping routine. Kroger on Mondays (or even Sunday nights if we have time) and Publix on Wednesdays. Plus it was Penny Coupon day! Grand total: $5.55; Total savings: $29.07. CVS, however, was a big fat fail. CVS will take mo...
Mind Grapes: Guess who's back, back again
http://peggythenewsjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/06/guess-whos-back-back-again.html
Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Guess who's back, back again. So the Publix fail discouraged me a little from couponing for about three days. Then I recovered. We've had several successful shopping outings since then, but my favorite lately has been a recent trip we took to WalMart. We got 10 travel size tubes of toothpaste for free and the Spic and Span bottles were $.47 a piece. And we got a large bottle of brown mustard for $.62! Grand Total: $3.40; Amount Saved: $12.85. Mind Grapes: [Shopping trip redacted]
http://peggythenewsjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/05/shopping-trip-redacted.html
Thursday, May 19, 2011. We went to Publix last night to shop. It was going to be an okay-ish trip, but we made some last minute additions to our list and I didn't hand the cashier all of our coupons (realized this in the parking lot) and it was kind of a fail. It was my first real mistake in this process. I had a meltdown. I don't know why. On top of the fact I was already on edge emotionally before I even got to the store. That had a lot to do with it.). Mind Grapes: Publix #win, CVS #fail
http://peggythenewsjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/05/publix-win-cvs-fail.html
Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Publix #win, CVS #fail. We've settled on a shopping routine. Kroger on Mondays (or even Sunday nights if we have time) and Publix on Wednesdays. This afternoon, after a WalMart trip that made me cringe (so few sales, so few coupons but this one was Boy's project so whatever), we went to Publix with a very specific list and a very specific plan. Plus it was Penny Coupon day! Grand total: $5.55; Total savings: $29.07. CVS, however, was a big fat fail. May 12, 2011 at 10:37 AM.
Mind Grapes: Quick shopping update
http://peggythenewsjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/05/quick-shopping-update.html
Tuesday, May 10, 2011. We went back to Kroger after I spent a little time on Southern Savers. Designing a 10-item Mega Event list. Separating each Mega Event group into individual lists helps with organization and counting (things I struggle with sometimes). I was pretty excited with how it turned out. We only had to get one .49 water (our Mega Event fall-back) and got a lot of other great deals! Grand total: $5.97; Total savings: $17.18. May 11, 2011 at 5:47 AM. May 11, 2011 at 8:49 AM. Looks like you g...

The Cliff Rules: The McCollumn - 12/27: "Bah humbug for a reason"
http://thecliffrules.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-mccollumn-1227-bah-humbug-for-reason.html
A series of conversations with the resident of McCollum Cottage. Tuesday, December 24, 2013. The McCollumn - 12/27: "Bah humbug for a reason". Often get accused of being a “Scrooge” this time of year, and I can’t say that reputation is undeserved. The Christmas season does tend to bring out my worst side, but, as a veteran of the War on Christmas, you’ll forgive me if I occasionally lapse into PTHSD (post traumatic holiday stress disorder). Due to Steele’s impassioned response, the SGA later formed...

A series of conversations with the resident of McCollum Cottage. Friday, September 6, 2013. The McCollumn - 9/6: "Life lessons from a drive-thru window". A few years ago, I was inadvertently introduced to a series of sentence fragments that would forever alter the course of my life. I was going through the drive-thru at the Burger King in Opelika with my friend Bobby, eagerly awaiting our order of fries and Coke-flavored Icees. 8220;What did she just say? A series of conversations with the resident of McCollum Cottage. Thursday, February 27, 2014. The McCollumn - 2/28: "Lord, save us from ourselves". A fter an interesting period of debate last week, the Alabama House of Representatives approved a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow voters a say in whether the Ten Commandments should be displayed in schools or other places. The Cliff Rules: August 2013
http://thecliffrules.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
A series of conversations with the resident of McCollum Cottage. Friday, August 23, 2013. The McCollumn - 8/23: "Runaway ring: a tale of how wedded bliss almost wasn't". W eddings are always exceedingly interesting affairs, especially from the standpoint of a dedicated people watcher like yours truly. And, when given a prime vantage point for such viewing, say as the officiating minister, one could automatically expect some sort of hilarity to occur. As if worrying about being mauled by Cujo and Cujette ...

Tuesday, November 24, 2009. I know, it's been like fifteen minutes. So, I'm stumbling along other people's blogs trying to get ideas. I get to Claire's. I read some old posts. Here comes to punch to the face :. I know of nothing more agitating to the soul, nothing that so unsettles and disquiets, as the contemplation of the self.". Here's another I believe:. I believe in grace. Thank goodness! Back to the blog! It made me want to watch this one really, really bad:. Wow I'm so proud of you! Psh, hush Rach...

Thursday, December 3, 2009. Always exciting. Probably won't happen, but here's hoping! At least it'll be warm enough for a fire. Also, found this comment and really liked it:. Thank you for some credit, and I'm very glad to be part of a fan base that really supports their team. I know I never posted about the Iron Bowl. I feel like my feelings are similar to most Auburn fans out there. I'll just sum it up:. And, I really do believe in Auburn, and love it. Well put, Rachel! Such a memorable one! Well, I'v...

Peggy the Baker
Monday, January 2, 2017. I've made these cookies many, many times since they appeared in Dorie Greenspan's Baking From My Home to Yours. The cookies are too good to be left out of Dorie's newest book, Dorie's Cookies,. And I'm so glad that the Tuesdays with Dorie bakers decided to bake them to start off the new year. They are chocolate with more chocolate, sable-like in texture, and they have that secret ingredient of fleur de sel which makes them sparkle. For yourself from your local bookseller or from.

Monday, November 14, 2011. Whoa, it's November. Well, here we are: November. That fantastic work news I was hoping to be able to share never came to fruition. Actually, it was kind of the opposite. I'm still employed and everything, but there are issues. I'll keep you posted. So I'm back on the diet wagon. I've ballooned up to pre-2009 weight again, so it's time to do something about it. Justin and I have been doing our best to limit our caloric intake while saving money. Irish Wake. Yeah, it happened.
