Having recently read and thoroughly enjoyed Robin Sloan’s book, “Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour book Store”, I was intrigued to learn that penumbra was an actual word. Last fall in the class B state championship semifinal football game, our Laverne Tigers, who had hardly been challenged all year, found themselves down 20-6 to a well-coached RejoiceChristian team. All I could think all through half time was, “We’ll find out what they’re made of now.”. We did find out what they were made of–they came back and won 30-20 and ended up Class B state champs for the second year in a row. Don’t Be No Love Sick Puppy.

A fine WordPress.com site. When did it happen? I can’t pinpoint. I remember a time in my life when I had no doubt that I was smart and athletic and beautiful and that I could conquer all. When did I lose that? I know it was somewhere after fifth grade. Why, by the time I was a senior in high school, did I find myself at the fifty yard mark after a great start in the 100 yard dash at State in front of the girl whom I knew was the fastest in the state and have the thought, I’m not supposed to.

A fine WordPress.com site. I wrote this December 4, 2013, and just found it. The past week has been. It was a short week at school due to Thanksgiving break. We stayed up way to late because we decided to watch the entire series of Arrow. Then Lord Lucha was sick so he took off work. So I took off work to take care of him. I avoided my preach assignment. We celebrated Lord Lucha’s birthday. I have definitely lived a life of shoulds. I am done with that. I will live in the moment of now. By spending a buck.

A fine WordPress.com site. One cup of rice. 2 cloves of garlic, minced. Rinse rice in a fine mesh sieve until water runs clear. Heat a medium sized pot over medium heat with a splash of oil. Add minced garlic and stir fry briefly. Combine rinsed rice with garlic and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add water according to instructions on rice packet and cook accordingly. Bean Salad ».
