When we purchase the home, it already had an existing RV garage which would eventually be remodeled into my shop and indoor layout room. The exterior size of the building is 25 by 40. The rollup doors are 10 wide and 12 tall. For reference, the front is facing due East. The side with 2 windows is facing due North. Moving to the original inside views;. Front or East End. Back or West End. Heres a deceiving picture! Waiting for the color coat. January 27, 2010. So, lets go inside! Looking west is my bench ...

Please choose one of the above buttons. All kits are produced in a limited run. Please refer to the home page for dates and run cycles. All PNG kits come with lasered poplar and birch plywoods and basswood lumber. Minimal tools are all that is necessary to complete these easy to build kits. Frames are pre-assembled to assure a good foundation. All brake gear is pre-drilled to ease on one of the more difficult stage of any kit assembly.

Below are a couple projects Ive done in the past. The 1:96 scale gearing destroyer can be viewed by following the DD-833 button above. First thing was to build up a pair of trucks. This would be a standard gauge car so all my NG training was out the door. Also, as cost would be an issue, I had to make them up as cheaply as possible but rugged enough for small hands to touch. Without and with springs. With doors, grabs and all hardware. Close up of the trucks. Finished on Joes Bench.

Progress continues on the mountains in the area currently known as "The Canyon" between the north tunnel portal and Midway. We do, however, have miles to go before we sleep. There may be more to report over the weekend! Tuesday, July 06, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Comments, questions, or ideas are always welcome, or just drop in and say hello!

The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Then, also, with any luck, we'll have new lights in the basement, so visitors can actually SEE the railroad. Lots of new and interesting projects on the horizon! Now if I can just get some done enough to take photos, this will be a much more interesting blog to follow. In any case, stay tuned! Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. It's been quite a ride, as you can see in all of the previous posts, from delivery, to teardown, to sandwiching all that gear under the hood, to trying to get everything to function, this little engine has turned into a BIG project. But, even with the external detail changes being somewhat small, the difference is noteworthy, I think:. A) Removed factory electronics,...

The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Thursday, March 24, 2011. This week, we had a visit of state from Mr. Paul Weiss, who has the distinction of being the Chief Civil Engineer from the Slate Creek (Mark I) and with his help, we finally have something to show you! So, without further ado, the tour! Here you see the future location of High Bridge, one of the few locations on the layout with scenery to be built significantly belo...

The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Wednesday, March 6, 2013. There Be Steam Here! Well, it's not much of an update, and it unfortunately shows the "boy have we got a long way to go" part of the layout more than anything else . but hey, we *do* have a steam engine in working order, so it seemed a propos to put up a video of it working. So, without further ado, here's Slate Creek Railway #9 on its first full test run .

The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Wednesday, April 7, 2010. A Good Week's Work. After all this time, I guess it's time to write SOMETHING here. It's not the rollout of anything huge, and no photos of the layout yet, but it's been a productive week at last on the Slate Creek. Until then, this is primarily a solo act, and subject to interruption. In other news, I've been working for several years with some good friends on a pr...

The Slate Creek Railway. The Making of the Stories, Equipment, and Operations of a 1:20.3 scale Basement Railroad. Monday, October 12, 2009. For the first time in a long time there's some news on the layout itself. The wiring for the new lights is up, and the frames to hold the scenery are installed from the north tunnel portal, past midway, and nearly all the way to the bridge! Of course, you have to think a little fourth-dimensionally to understand where these places are.). Monday, October 12, 2009.

A sideways glance into the mind of filsmyth (previously Phil Smith), author of Virtual Dreamer. Friday, June 22, 2012. Six Months from the End of the World. No, I don't really think the world will end on December 21, 2012. Did find it a bit odd, though, that I didn't hear anything, as the Summer Solstice passed, about the Winter Solstice. That date that everyone used to throw around is now exactly half a year away, and I didn't see or hear anyone mentioning it anywhere. So here goes -. To work on it, but...
