http://baehrlyreading.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Big books, little books, little Baehrs, big Lord. Fumbling steps towards truth, beauty and goodness. Sunday, 1 September 2013. Politics and Providence on the Prairie. Laura Ingalls Wilder in Missou ri. I'm a late convert to Little House. (Am I really a homeschooler if I didn't read/quote/re-enact the books countless times growing up? My husband and I read the series to our oldest daughter last year. All three of us discovered it at the same time. There were a lot of tears. Most of them were not Eve's.

Baehrly Reading: August 2012
http://baehrlyreading.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Big books, little books, little Baehrs, big Lord. Fumbling steps towards truth, beauty and goodness. Tuesday, 14 August 2012. Reading Jane Austen with my husband. My husband just finished reading all of Jane Austen's novels. I'm impressed that he had the discernment to see past the uber-feminine stereotypes of Jane Austen's work that are common in our culture and really enjoy the novels for what they are: well-crafted works of art that are popular because they are insightful, funny, balanced and human.

Baehrly Reading: March 2015
http://baehrlyreading.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Big books, little books, little Baehrs, big Lord. Fumbling steps towards truth, beauty and goodness. Thursday, 26 March 2015. 5 Questions for Suzannah Rowntree. First, by way of introduction. She fences, she crochets, she can dance a mean reel. She knows what infralapsarianism is, she eats orange peel, she's.SUZANNAH ROWNTREE! I'm really keen to ask Suzannah some questions about her debut novel,. Which, frankly, I enjoyed more than I've enjoyed any novel in years. Read my review here. I started out by sp...

Baehrly Reading: White Nights: the forgotten suspense classics of Ethel Lina White
http://baehrlyreading.blogspot.com/2015/03/white-nights-forgotten-suspense.html
Big books, little books, little Baehrs, big Lord. Fumbling steps towards truth, beauty and goodness. Wednesday, 18 March 2015. White Nights: the forgotten suspense classics of Ethel Lina White. Ethel Lina White (1876-1944). And Mary Stewart fit the bill nicely. I was on the lookout for similar light vintage thrills when I discovered the Welsh crime novelist Ethel Lina White. Innocently, I picked up her suspense masterpiece Some Must Watch. Too chilling for midnight reading. White is enough of a craftsman...

A life of art and the art of life in Tasmania. God is full of surprises. August 10, 2013. The two paintings I entered sold last night at the Opening of the Rotary Charity Exhibition at Wrest Point. There are over 400 pieces on display there, making it by far the biggest – and certainly most “posh” – exhibition I have entered so far. My only explanation is: “God wanted them to sell”. For which I am humbled and grateful. I guess it means I will keep painting! Any suggestions for the next Noir Canard? Somet...

Pouring Light: the one I withdrew | 3margarets
https://3margarets.wordpress.com/2013/08/10/pouring-light
A life of art and the art of life in Tasmania. Pouring Light: the one I withdrew. August 10, 2013. I’m nearly finished this one (I hope). It was meant to go in the Rotary Exhibition (see post, below) but I realised that I had grossly under-priced it and the organisers were unable to change the price, so “withdrawing” it was the only option. The tricky part is that it does other artists a disservice to under charge as it lowers the general value of art locally. August 10, 2013 at 12:51 pm. Pricing is alwa...

A life of art and the art of life in Tasmania. From a few years ago. August 10, 2013. Not the best photo, but here’s one I never posted. This one of my daughter is from my first “go” at painting, before Christina was married. It’s the 3rd portrait I attempted. Did I mention this? I only started painting a few years ago then had a several year break; I’ve now come back to it. Apparently, It’s never too late to start, then start again. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
