Tuesday, May 24, 2011. On Wednesday, the group was treated to a day at PortAventura, a popular theme park in the south of Cataluña. It was a very long day (8-8), and Pingree students enjoyed the time with one another and with their Catalan hosts, as they rode Dragon Khan and other death-defying attractions avoided by most of the chaperones present. After attending classes, including a lecture on Cataluña, one of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain, we were taken to visit the architectural masterpiece of Modernismo, Antoní Gaudí's Sagrada Familia. Sunday, May 29, 2011. Today, while our American colleagues and classmates were enjoying a Memorial holiday, we spent the morning in lectures and playing English games with primary classes. Here at Pare Manyanet, ages of students range from 3 to 18, and English is taught at the earliest levels. Friday, June 4, 2010. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Our last full day today began with several classes in the morning- two in Castellano and one working with younger students in English. Classes here are much bigger than Pingree kids are used to, as most of them have at least 30 students of all abilities, although almost everyone is on a university track.
