Not-so-Plain Jane

Saturday, February 09, 2013. HelloI didn't mean to let a whole week pass between posts. I have things to show you! First of all, I finished the Scallop quilt last Sunday. I did some easy echo-quilting around the curves, just like in the original project on Stitched in Color. I feel like I should have done something more ambitious with the wide open area but if I had to decide what to do, this little quilt would never get done. I mean, seriously, hours. Having no marking on the weekends is heaven! It took...

Not-so-Plain Jane: July 2012

http://plainjane21.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 23, 2012. We've had some pretty bizarre weather lately - lots of rain and crazy thunder and lightning storms. The forecast is always off, and always changing. It makes it hard to plan activities. I don't mind the odd rainy day, but we've had a bit too many of those lately. The good thing about rain, though, is the excuse it gives me to stay inside. With Swoon once again out of commission while waiting for fabric, I pulled out the old bow-tie blocks from last summer. Friday, July 20, 2012.

Not-so-Plain Jane: First Completed WIP of 2013

http://plainjane21.blogspot.com/2013/01/first-completed-wip-of-2013.html

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. First Completed WIP of 2013. I finished my Christmas Strings WIP before the end of the month, thus granting myself permission to start something new. I used a quick and easy meandering stitch to free-motion quilt this project. I didn't want the quilting to interfere with all the lines of the "strings" so I kept it flowing. I also have a couple of projects from my Curves Class with Stitched in Color. One is in the dryer right now so I'll post about them later. The Free Motion Qu...

Not-so-Plain Jane: January 2013

http://plainjane21.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 31, 2013. I'm really enjoying the Curves Class I'm taking online with Stitched in Color. I know I keep saying that, but the projects are awesome. I only wish they were spaced out a bit farther apart. I missed a project last week because I ran out of time, and this week has been even crazier - I've been out (at least for a bit) every single evening. So here are a couple of projects from the past few days:. Project of the week (out of three) and I just finished it on Thursday. This one is...

Not-so-Plain Jane: Auvers Sur Oise

http://plainjane21.blogspot.com/2010/08/auvers-sur-oise.html

Saturday, August 14, 2010. Auvers Sur Oise is a small village about 35 km northwest of Paris. It is where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last two months of his life. Sandi and I visited this beautiful town today. We took the Métro to the Gare du Nord, a very busy and confusing train station. We took a train from there to Auvers Sur Oise. Here's our train waiting for us at Track 21. There was an interesting and informative display in the courtyard. All the cracks in the walls. Oh, it was. Van Gogh's painting ...

Chowz Creations: Violet Jelly

http://chowzcreations.blogspot.com/2011/05/violet-jelly.html

Sunday, May 22, 2011. Today's experiment was jelly made from wild violets. I printed out the recipe last fall from here. Wish I'd taken a photo of the violets. BEFORE I picked almost all of the flowers. =). Here are a few lone survivors. Rinsing the flowers. The water stream looks interesting. After first pouring the boiling water over the flowers. The color is pulled from the petals quickly. Very pretty blue. This was taken about an hour later. Behind the dish of violets on the left is dandelion blossoms.

For Interest Sake: August 2009

http://forinterestsake.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 28, 2009. So we have a new family member. His name is Levi. Yes, he is adorable but what a handful! Levi is 7 weeks old but eats well, uses the litter box, and bathes(good signs) but I think he still misses mamma a little bit, and has attached that missing to me! See those big eyes, they make you melt and pick him up every time he looks up at you and cries! How is Loulou managing you ask? It is actually really funny. Levi doesn't know what to think of her! One minute she's a bitch and the ...

For Interest Sake: May 2009

http://forinterestsake.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. For anyone who knows me personally you know I have embarked on a what seems like a never ending medical journey to find a diagnosis and for those of you who don't know me personally, well, now you know. Over the next few days while you try to get your bearings you are now playing the game called 'elimination', constantly in pain, wondering if something is wrong that is really serious and wanting your own bed where your roommate is not snoring, gagging and farting! Welcome to my blog!

For Interest Sake: Back to Blog

http://forinterestsake.blogspot.com/2010/11/back-to-blog.html

Friday, November 19, 2010. I am back to the land of blog! I figure this was the opportune time to reinstate my blog with the recent setup of my new 'studio' area in the house for my creativity! So, its actually a creativity center. There are other rooms on our list also but back to the studio. The area is actually in a corner because it is located at the bottom of the stairs. I am happy that I can actually have a full size table there to work on now; I like to spread out! While scanning other sewing/craf...

For Interest Sake: December 2010

http://forinterestsake.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 11, 2010. I have discovered the world of applique! I am making a book for my granddaughter.she is visiting this christmas from out west. This book I discovered is full of applique so I channeled the help of my friend, Rachel, who is expert at these types of things, and set out to make this book. First you trace your pattern onto fusible web, but trace it backwards! I learned that lesson the hard way! I used paper for tracing patterns onto fabric with a stylus and it seemed to work fine.

For Interest Sake: Birthdays

http://forinterestsake.blogspot.com/2009/11/birthdays.html

Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Its what I call my birthday week, which means my birthday falls on a day this week. Lets just say its a significant birthday this year which is why I'm glad to be a November baby, haha. So along with a significant birthday come lots of different thoughts; one being, "do I have wrinkles yet? So I checked.ok so here are the eyes :. Here are the eyes when I grin:. So I guess we can call them laughing lines and yes, I still have freckles. So did my grandma. What else is new?

Monday, 27 July 2015. Thank you - I did it! I can't possibly thank all of you enough for the incredible amount of support I received on my last post. You may have noticed I haven't been here - I've simply been 'hunkering down' and dealing with one thing at a time. But last Monday - the event that had sparked off such anxiety - took place. And I was there! So - how did I do it? I remember saying on my very first session that I would be amazed if it actually worked! I still have worries about staying away ...
