Poems for you

Friday, January 6, 2017. This poem is based off a scene in the 1855 book North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. In the scene, there is a strike and when the strikers hear that their employer had tried to break the strike by hiring non union Irish workers, they riot outside his home and he comes out to face them. In that time they referred to employers as Masters and I have kept it in my poem. The air isn’t dark but it rumbles. The sun shines but there is fear. People run and shout, demanding things. Yet, ...

Poems for you: A home in the woods

http://poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/2016/10/a-home-in-woods_16.html

Sunday, October 16, 2016. A home in the woods. A home in the woods. I walked in the quiet woods. Where very few ever roam. And there amongst the towering trees. I made my soul a home. The blue sky was my ceiling. The trees my pillars and walls. The leaves my living carpet. And the roots were my floor. The sun was my lamp in the day. The moon and stars by night. The running brook was my playmate. Its song filled me with delight. The birds in the air were my wind chimes. Singing when the day was clear.

Poems for you: June 2015

http://poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 17, 2015. A flat stood in a neighborhood. It’s features proud and tall. Compared to all the other houses. The rest seemed really small. The people in this flat. Were all well groomed. They spoke perfect English. And had books in every room. They dressed their children. In the best that money could buy. In between every Hi and Bye. I visited this flat and saw its people. Then took the lift down. And spent some time in the coffee shop. In the neighborhood on the ground. But no less happy.

Poems for you: May 2015

http://poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 29, 2015. I was walking somewhere far from home. Where you could see the impossible fly. And then something in the gutter. Seemed to catch my eye. A flash of light. I though I saw it there. But when I looked. I could find no source anywhere. Another flash of light. But this time I caught the cause. Given up for lost. Its edges were jagged and sharp. But it was very bright. The sky in its eyes. Were filled with light. The birds flew merrily. When I gazed into its depths. Yet it was broken.

Poems for you: July 2016

http://poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 1, 2016. The world outside the window. The world outside the window. In the room the world is dull. The walls and floor are plain. The lights are dimmed, the sound’s a constant hum. It always feels like it’s about to rain. Day in day out. The sun rises and the sun sets. And you never hear a bird singing. Yet out of the corner of your eye. You can see the world outside. The bright sun on the green leaves. The brightening and waning of the day’s light. You see the leaves toss as they are blown.

Poems for you: Mirrors

http://poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/2016/08/mirrors.html

Sunday, August 14, 2016. One dark moon lit night. I walked into a room filled with moonlight. And saw a hundred mirrors each standing on stands. Each one deliberately designed by man’s hand. I walked to the first at the side of the place. Held it up and saw a sliver of my face. 8216;Disabled’, the words on the mirror said. But I didn’t see me so the image I’d trade. I walked to the next by a painting strange. For the faces there always changed. I looked into the mirror and I saw my face.

In The Forest

http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/in-the-forest.php

More May's poems here. My eyes in wonder. Of the life there. Shines on the floor. Dances through the trees. With the rustlings of leaves. Behind the mighty giants. I catch a shadow of a deer. Or perhaps it was a creature. From the tails we hold dear. The air is restful. Full of contended peace. A place where men. Yet life is there. In the smallest of leaves. As long as the sun shines. Nature may do as it please. Life's in the air. And if there is beauty. I am sure it is there.

Wishing Upon a Star

http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/wish-star.php

More May's poems here. Wishing upon a star. When you wish upon a star. You wish a hundred million things. Pinning your hopes and dreams. On the stars’ bright wings. But why wish upon a star. As it dances through the night? Perhaps because it glitters. Like our dreams ever so bright. Perhaps it symbolises our hope. Our belief that dreams come true. That because it shines in the sky. So wish upon a star. As many wishes as you like. Because sometimes just wishing. Is what keeps a dream alive.

Getting There

http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/getting-there.php

More May Kwek's poems. I am getting there but by another way. Away from the track that others take. And though it is a lonely way. There’s no other that I would take. For the old track confines. You must run all the way. And even if you are tired. No word can you say. Whereas the new track is freedom. But I will stumble. And have to learn some lessons. But I will get there. I will finish all the same. Although it was by another road. That I laboriously came. At least on this road I will learn.

Hope's Song

http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/hopes-song.php

More May's poems at her blog. One day as I was moaning. About the troubles in my life. I heard a bird singing. That everything would be fine. It sang so wonderfully. That I almost believed. But part of me still asked. How could this be? But the song still sang. And put hope in the air. The silver lining it told me. Must surely be there. To believe in the future. So that I could have today. To believe that the past is over. That it has gone away. I am still learning. But believe I eventually will.

Christmas Time

http://www.inspiringthots.net/movie/christmas-time.php

Http:/ poemsforocassions.blogspot.com/. A time to remember the gifts of the year. Of the sunlit presents in our earthly sphere. A time to remember what we've received. The gentle smiles like angel wings. A time to spend with those we hold dear. With friends and family all in good cheer. A time to laugh over things of the past. And ensure our bonds will always last. A time to celebrate our saviour’s birth. And remember why he came to earth. A time to keep him in our hearts.

Poems for my Flatmate

Poems for my Flatmate. Wednesday, 27 April 2011. On the sofa you snooze. You’re filled with self pity. And with yesterdays booze. To cleaning the house. And thanks to your habits. We’re now lodging a mouse. When I ask you to tidy. Your eyes well with tears. Your sense of injustice. Honed over the years. If I point out your clutter. You moan and you pout. Well sulk on your own. Because I’m soon moving out. I came home to find you snoozing. On the sofa after boozing. Til the early hours of morning. Picture...

Poems for My Wife –

Poems for My Wife. Love’s not Magic and Luck; It’s Hard Work and Choice. February 6, 2016. By Thomas Ortega II. So many people think:. 8220;Love just happens to you. Magically, in a blink. There’s nothing you can do.”. That, my friend, is pure crap;. Don’t buy any of that. It is this common trap. That will make love go splat. Love is not a feeling;. Love is simply a choice;. You choose to stop reeling. And listen to a voice. This voice is not your own,. But that of your loved one. To get it just right.

Poems For Our Heroes

Poems For Our Heroes. Sunday, November 16, 2008. Honor and The Young Soldier. Honorable soldiers, in the field. Death and danger, they do not yield. Standing tall, ready to fight. Tonight's mission, will come with might. Not slowing down, they feel so ready. Expressionless faces, M4's steady. Into the Blackhawks, the adrenaline sets in. As they fly ever closer, to this God-forsaken land. Full of corruption and war, they're here to stop it. With explosions sounding, like never-ending rockets. Got hit in t...
