Poetic Justice: War In My Head
http://poeticjusticenow.blogspot.com/2010/10/war-in-my-head.html
Journey Across America Project. Sunday, October 3, 2010. War In My Head. I took the train into philly from south jersey after a men's prayer breakfast where they discussed the work they are doing for homeless men and a feeding program for needy families. It has been really cool as i travel to have the opportunity to sit in on some meetings and see what other organizations are doing for the poor and needy. Love is a powerful thing! Journey Across America Project. Thursday, December 2, 2010. The Evolution Of Those Who Struggle. On Sunday, i got a call from a new friend who came by the house to drop off dozens of bags of name brand coats and jackets and sweaters in unbelievable condition for us to give away to needy families during the colder season. He said that dozens more were on the way. There is something that happens to the soul and the the mind when it encounters the devastation of poverty. We were able to give him and a f...

Journey Across America Project. Friday, October 29, 2010. So the end of my journey across america sort of ended in atlanta last week. but the trip remains alive in the conversations and stories that i have been able to share with many about the experiences and the impact it has had on my life. to be honest, it was hard to get off that train in atlanta having to admit to myself that this process was coming to a close. Because of that, every conversation and every interaction has had an enormous and deeply...

Journey Across America Project. Thursday, September 30, 2010. All of my life it seems that i have been underestimated. a lot of that has to do with the fact that i look much younger than i really am and that I am shorter than most dudes my age. if you allow it, other people's perceptions can have a negative impact and handicap our psyche so that we limit our potential at what we can achieve and accomplish. It is only when I am able to sit down at the table and understand the depths of suffering that many...

Friday, March 1, 2013. Wash your face, come on, we’re free. Do you see what I see? Let’s laugh without caution. It’s a revamp, a revamp of our nation. We don’t need machetes, or guns. We’ll use a votes, its great fun. Who fights anymore, who? With my vote, I know where I’d go. I’d revamp, revamp my dear country. My vote will be your roof, bed and meal. My vote will pay rent, and go where you feel. Not all; my vote will heal and seal our land. My vote is all I count on, lend me your hand. Thus my happy da...

Next PJ Reading is Sun Jan 15 at 11:30 am. Forgive us but we’ve had a glitch with posts to the website. All’s good again — for now. Last month we were thrilled to have two powerful voices sharing the podium. Kate Braid. A previous visitor to PJ, was joined by new-to-PJ poet, Richard Therrien. For some reason, the readings seemed rushed this time, but not before we were dazzled by these two stellar poets. Joining us on January 15 are E.D. Blodgett. The Love Songs of the Carmina Burana. Les Enfants des Jés...

In the Senate, Democrats lost six seats and hold a reduced majority of 53 to 47. Emboldened Republicans have pledged to derail President Obama's agenda, starting by repealing health-care reform and cutting government programs. Over the past two years, Democrats needed to win over just a couple of Republicans to overcome a filibuster, a p...
