A couple more tips… | Poetryprof

https://poetryprof.wordpress.com/2008/10/14/a-couple-more-tips

October 14, 2008. A couple more tips…. 8212; poetryprof @ 3:53 pm. When we refer to a writer by one name instead of their full name, we use the last, not first, name. It’s thus Kipling, not Rudyard. It’s Dickens, not Charles. Etc. 🙂. When you quote more than one line of a poem, you need to put a space and then a slash and then a space to mark the spot where the line breaks appears in the original, for example, “Roses are red / Violets are blue.”. I’ve added everyone’s blog address to my blogroll (at the right of your screen), at least everyone who has sent me his or her URL so far. If you haven’t done that yet, please send it to me a.s.a.p. 🙂. We will visit our blogs in class sometimes, so there’ll be other opportunities to ask questions about how to navigate the site and fix settings and all that. For now let’s just write and read…. 3 Comments ». Poetry in a can.

8220;Don’t Go Far Off” by Pablo Neruda…A poem about needing a loved one. September 15, 2008 @ 7:06 pm. 183; { Love. Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because —. Because — I don’t know how to say it: a day is long. And I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station. When the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep. Don’t leave me, even for an hour, because. Then the little drops of anguish will all run together,. The smoke that roams looking for a home will drift. Into me, choking my lost heart.

Knowing that I will live again,. O that all life were but a day. Sunny and Sweet and SANE! And that I’d even I might say;.

September 13, 2008} Saying goodbye is always hard. I wanted to know what it was like before we. Had voices and before we had bare fingers and before we. Had minds to move us through our actions. And tears to help us over our feelings,. So I drove my daughter through the snow to meet her friend. And filled her car with suitcases and hugged her. As an animal would, pressing my forehead against her,. Walking in circles, moaning, touching her cheek,. And turned my head after them as an animal would,. I love ...
