PreK Planet Parker

Friday, January 6, 2017. There are many benefits to playing outdoors in all sorts of weather. The way that kids play in nature has a lot less structure than most types of indoor play. There are infinite ways to interact with outdoor environments, from the backyard to the park to the local hiking trail or lake, and letting your child choose how he treats nature means he has the power to control his own actions. It promotes creativity and imagination. It provides different stimulation. It gets kids moving.

Saturday, October 31, 2015. The Magic of the Moment. PreK Planet Parker: January 2016

http://prekplanetparker.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 29, 2016. There were bridges to cross and trails to follow and then a lot of dirt to dig today. The children gathered their sticks and found their familiar spaces to enjoy some time in the woods, unstructured but well supervised play for an extended length of time. The benefits of outdoor time for children are well documented:. Until Next Time,. There was a lot of work happening here-scraping away the dirt from the roots of the tree-would it collapse? PreK Planet Parker: October 2016

http://prekplanetparker.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 29, 2016. It's a Little Colder! We bundled up and headed out to a favorite spot this week. We treasure our time outside! The leaves are mostly down! This was a hot chocolate booth. A cold and grey sort of day on Friday. It was a bit warmer on Tuesday! We tried the tire feature of the low ropes course. This snake stayed around a bit for us to watch it. We watched the snake until it slithered into the leaves. We wondered how long it was? How did it move? Where did it live? Until Next Time,.

PreK Planet Parker: December 2016

http://prekplanetparker.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 27, 2016. It was so cold on Friday that we stayed in, but thought to make bird feeders with crisco and bird seed and some beautiful pine cones to hang on our little tree outside the classroom window. We're not sure if birds will come to eat there, but we are going to wait and watch! Outside on Tuesday when it was mild and there was just a bit of snow. The children don't mind how much snow there is, it makes them happy to be out in it! There's always something to look closely at!

PreK Planet Parker: February 2016

http://prekplanetparker.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 26, 2016. We were outside today in the cold, but we were so happy to get there! The children were actually rolling down the hill on the soft pine needles as soon as we got into the woods! One child asked me "Michele, can we have five more minutes? And I said "Sure! When it was time to go inside, that child said "What about five more minutes? I thought he meant he wanted to go in soon, but it turns out that he wanted to stay out longer! Until Next Time,. Saturday, February 6, 2016.
