25 books a year. I read somewhere that people should read 25 books a year. That's like one every 2 weeks. I don't know anyone who does that. I've been on vacation for 5 months and I've still only read 15 books. And I was so proud of myself. Sigh. Here's what I read:. Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Wild Swans by Jung Chang. Good Scent from a Strange Mountain by Robert Olen Butler. The Quiet American by Graham Greene. She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb.

My big accomplishment last week was that I made paella : I went to a big grocery store and bought a box of rice mix with a spice packet, a bag of frozen vegetables, and a packaged sausage and threw it all in a slow cookerand even then I kind of messed it up. 35 Días de Español. Adventures in moving back home to orange county. 35 Days of Yoga. My hope for 35 days of yoga was to markedly improve. I had imagined a supported headstand, heels reaching the floor in downward dog, maybe even a block-less ardha chandrasana. I didn’t get those things. But I did get some unexpected lessons. Lesson #1: I am not as patient as I think I am. Lesson #2: Do not be quick to judge. Then I remember that I don’t actually want to spend a sweat-soaked 90 minutes every day turning my muscles to jelly.
