Every year we lost a student to this tragedy, and while I didn’t personally know any of those students, I wonder who they’d be today. I wonder what can we do as a society to prevent this? Rachel Allison, Ph.D. Is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and an affiliate of Gender Studies at Mississippi State University. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. Her dissertation, "Gender and the Organization of Women's Professional Soccer," is an ethnographic study focused on how stakeholders within women's pro soccer develop organizational goals and strategies.
