styled stories for Kelly & Jones NYC - one part gypsy

Styled stories for Kelly & Jones NYC. This project is extra special to me, as Kelly of Kelly and Jones was actually my very first client! Back when I went to school in Tucson, AZ, Kelly owned the loveliest DIY spa and scent studio, Salud. I was obsessed and in there all the time! It is many years later and Kelly now lives in my favorite NYC neighborhood Greenwich Village, the home base of her wine-inspired perfume line, Kelly and Jones (read her story here. 8220;I took a sip. He took my hand and we d...

studio sounds vol 2: through the thick of it - one part gypsy

Studio sounds vol 2: through the thick of it. It’s the season of supermoons and eclipses, busy yet scattered days and intense communications. There is more happening behind the scenes than we know. In these wooded months, the things that no longer serve us fall away and we plant our seeds for the new year. Let this playlist pull you through the thick of it and out to the other side. the wren // hushed commotion - one part gypsy

The wren / hushed commotion. I had originally hoped to wear the Wren headpiece by Hushed Commotion. For my wedding but in the end went with a simpler look. (Imagine how beautiful this would be for a nighttime candle-lit ceremony? You’ll see below how exquisite the piece is– I couldn’t bear to just put it back in the box! And I put together this shoot to capture its amazing detail. We had so much fun playing in this magical little Morocco spot. Hope you enjoy! Thank you Hushed Commotion.

paros, greece - one part gypsy

Another funny thing about Greece that surprised us was the food– while it was delicious, there was not much variety, and a lot of the dishes served in greek restaurants in America are actually Israeli, Moroccan or from other areas in the Mediterranean. So pretty much every restaurant served 5-6 greek classics, and then pizza and pasta. Luckily being veggie was no problem, and the surroundings were beautiful. Below are some photos of my favorite shop, full of ceramics, bright textiles and so much white.

naoussa, greece - one part gypsy
http://www.onepartgypsy.com/naoussa_greece
Like any good trip, ours began with a long day and a half of travel. We arrived in Athens early on a Sunday morning in a jet lagged daze but day-1 good spirits. The streets were mostly empty, and we oooh-ed and ahh-ed over the honey-suckle-smelling jasmine, bumping our bags through the cobblestone streets, the air hot vibrating with the buzz of cicadas. Later that day we took the metro to the dirty port town of Pireaus and boarded the ferry to Paros. Does anyone else sleep really well on the water? The n...

Some greek isle snaps. We’re back from Greece! Did this summer go by as quickly for you as it did for us? It sure felt like our busiest one yet. And I do not mean that in a fun way! This trip was everything we needed. It’s amazing. More on this later once I figure out exactly what it is. I want to enjoy this stillness inside for as long as I can– the absence of urgency is a beautiful thing, and the mental shift is welcomed. Hello new Fall. I’ll write more about the islands we visited when I post mo...

waiting for baby g - one part gypsy

Waiting for baby g. Aura photo by Radiant Human. Well here I am, 7 months pregnant, finally sharing the news here that in August we will be a family of 5! In these months it really struck me how precious time is as I’ve been attempting to “get everything done” before daily responsibilities totally change. Not just hours and days, but protecting the mental, emotional and energetic bandwidth we each have to offer. What is most supportive to our higher purpose here on earth? Where are we getting bogged down?
