M A G E L L A N I A N A: December 2008

http://rachelgolub.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

31 December 2008: winter wonderland. Some thoughts on precipitation:. Spending ten minutes in this alternate world, green and brown water and Siberian chill, is but a tease, but we get out after a brief there-and-back to a pre-determined point along the shore. It's wiser, in this weather, to avoid frostbite. When our hands have warmed up, we don't even shiver. What have we done to our bodies? What does it mean to reach another level? Do our bodies have the memory to change with the seasons? Limen, the gr...

OG Attempts the English Channel: August 2010

http://larrychannel.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

OG Attempts the English Channel. A 57 year-old man decides to swim the English Channel solo. This is the log of the attempt. Have You Gained Weight? Common wisdom proclaims that people with a higher body mass index are more impervious to the effects of cold water. In our weight-obsessed society, this topic generates vociferous discussion. A very amusing example is the furor aroused when a gentleman posted a query. According to three studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine. When activated...

If I succeed in the attempt to swim the. I will be fifty-eight years old and the oldest member of the Dolphin Club to do so. When I was in my twenty’s, fifty-eight seemed inconceivably ancient for a human being. Fittingly, my sense of scale was stunted in the other direction as well. John Selmer successfully swam the.

Swimming Gibraltar: Saturday & Sunday

http://swimminggibraltar.blogspot.com/2010/07/saturday-sunday.html

This Blog will be about my swim across the Gibraltar Straits in July 2010. Monday, July 12, 2010. I said goodbye to my family in the rental car bus. They were flying back to California after a hot vacation in new Hampshire. I wandered around the airport, bought yet another book and candy bar and found my gate. Hilary had given me something to help me sleep on the flight and some advice about how best to avoid jet lag. The flight was easy, I slept some and arrived in Madrid for the first time. I asked for...

why - the Liminophone

http://www.liminophone.com/why

In my seven years of experience as an urban distance-swimmer, my fascination with tidal data was the gateway to developing a sense of place in the water. The New York Harbor and its swollen arteries- the tempestuous East River, the turbid Harlem River, and the grand rolling Hudson- have become the essential element in my imagination of the City. In collaboration with my co-creator, composer-programmer Nick Didkovsky. The Liminophone does exist. We have heard the Harbor singing. 2014 Rachel Golub Music.

Swimming Gibraltar: The Water is a different Color

http://swimminggibraltar.blogspot.com/2010/07/water-is-different-color.html

This Blog will be about my swim across the Gibraltar Straits in July 2010. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. The Water is a different Color. The water is a different color here in the Gibraltar Straits. It is not the blue black of San Francisco, or the blue green of Hawaii, or the slate blue of the east coast, or the green blue of the Caribbean it is the blue I tried to paint my bedroom and didn't even know it. The paint card was named "Blueblood".  That's the color of the water I was in. July 13, 2010 at 5:23 PM.

Heart of a Peahen

Heart of a Peahen. Saturday, July 27, 2013. Fodder (aka Ray Goldsworthy). Succumbing to the Muse in a Paris cafe. Immortalizing Monet's garden at Giverny. There are pictures of medieval houses in the Dordogne Valley in France, of a surfer's shrine in Hawaii, of Whaling Station Bay on Hornby Island, Bywater Market in Ottawa, and so many more. I'm biased, maybe, but I think you'll love them too. Please visit www.raysart.ca and enjoy! Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Does, Don'ts and Other Pointless Things.

So, I am really a fan of watching those baking shows all over tv. I have been dreaming of being so professional in baking that I can even start up my own Pastry Shop. I have always been lazy in doing house chores and even frying my own food for lunch, but when it comes to tasks(For me) Like, Baking? Argh, this is different. Aside from my love for sweets and everything bread, I see myself getting extra creative in designing my own layers of cake or yes, even cupcakes! Spatula I personally bought this one ...

Fine Art Wedding Photography. 8220;Capture this,” I told her. It was my wedding day. I remember that moment more than anything, asking my wedding photographer to be sure to get shots of my grandmother. She'd been diagnosed with cancer.
