one pilgrim's progress.: August 2008

http://www.rachelhosan.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

August 27, 2008. I stand (or rather, this morning, sit) at the threshold of a new year; my last year. There is a certain sweetness to the knowledge that what I do, I do now for the last time. The last orientation at Storch, the last round of meeting new people, the last year of living in Wittlingen, the last rainy, fly-infested August in Germany. There is a sadness to it as well, and an anticipation. And, as often happens at the start of something new, I find myself reflecting on the past more earnestly.

one pilgrim's progress.: March 2010

http://www.rachelhosan.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

March 13, 2010. 9 months in america. (or, if you've ever lived overseas, you probably understand.). Do I have to have a good reason for that? But am I being hypocritical? Is my desire for adventure a mere product of this culture that some days I abhor? These are the questions that keep me awake at night. Really. Why does it seem strange to send a newsletter to people about my life and work in Philadelphia, but not my life and work in Germany? If you’ve ever lived overseas, you probably understand.

January 17, 2009. Africa and israel and places that grip my heart. The Dark Continent seems impossibly out of reach. Though The Poisonwood Bible. Walk Live off the land. Share with your neighbors. Wear the same clothes. Really, does it matter? We know events and names and places, but have we seen them? Do I know people in Gaza who are running for bomb shelters, or people in Africa who are fighting for survival against all odds of disease, famine and governmental instability? Wednesday, February 03, 2010. My Surprise Visit Home! I had the chance to go home last weekend to Havertown to surprise my mom for her birthday. It was such an incredible weekend! My mom was so shocked to see me- the look on her face was priceless. I visited family and friends, ate good food and had a lovely weekend. Here are some pictures from the fun filled time. Rachel picked me up from the airport. She is so Euro :). Had lunch with my grandparents (mom's side). Aren't they adorable?

Living Enthusiasm: August 2007

Friday, August 24, 2007. Double short: The new Grande. So I have always been a local coffee shop girl. Trying to stay granola and support the townies. Some of my favorites were: Steep and Brew, Michelangelo's, ANCORA (try the white zombie! I started drinking two a days and got addicted. I didn't like how much I spend on coffee, all the sugar I tasted, and how much I was drinking in milk. What I liked about coffee was the rush of energy and that you didn't have to drink a lot to get that.

Monday, November 30, 2009. My 2009 Christmas "Letter". So instead of that letter that I never did write, this year I have opted for the ever tech-savvy Christmas Blog Post. Here goes:. Dear Family and Friends,. What a whirlwind of a year this has been for us! As spring rolled by, I had the honor to participate in the wedding of our friends Katherine and Blake in early April, which was absolutely beautiful. We also enjoyed Easter with both my mom and Robert's parents. In the early fall, I had the privileg...

Thursday, July 12, 2007. I have the privilege of working in the missions dept at Healing Place Church. One thing I get to do is read over the newsletters we get in from missionaries we support. Today I was reading one from a missionary in Asia and he said something that hit me like never before:. You go each time we go, you share each thing we share, and you preach each time we preach. Your reward will be the same as ours on that day. Pretty cool.". Wednesday, July 04, 2007. Some of the funniest, most di...

Something Rachel recalls her father telling her as a young girl resonates to this day as the moment when she understood her passion was writing.
