Rachel's Marathon Blog: November 2004

http://rachelmarathon.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html

Tackling the first marathon. Sunday, November 28, 2004. I also plan to think more about what I eat this week. Carbo-loading with protein and lots of water in the two days prior to the long run. Any menu suggestions? Posted by Rachel @ 9:13 PM. Wednesday, November 24, 2004. Posted by Rachel @ 10:26 PM. Dinner last night: African sweet potato and black bean stew, from October's Cooking Light. No meat, but I did get waylaid by a tempting package of prosciutto at the grocery store beforehand. I'm only $100 a...

Rachel's Marathon Blog: December 2004

http://rachelmarathon.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html

Tackling the first marathon. Thursday, December 30, 2004. Currently I'm in the taper phase, and I really do have unbelievable amounts of energy these days. I'm thrilled because the shin splints and Achilles tendon have been quiet lately. I can't wait to actually run the marathon itself- to me it has become one of those rites of passage that is filled with mystery and wonder, and if all goes well I'll actually get to experience it. Ten days and counting. Posted by Rachel @ 7:16 PM. A bad day for running.

Rachel's Marathon Blog: April 2005

http://rachelmarathon.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html

Tackling the first marathon. Friday, April 29, 2005. I almost always run in the mornings before work, usually around 7 am At that hour in Central Florida, it's still cool, all the bougainvillea, plumbago and other exotic flowers that seem to bloom year round are covered with dew, and I always feel like I'm starting my day off right. Yesterday I was too tired to get up early, so I decided to run after work. The afternoon run felt harder than usual. The temperatures were getting to me a little bit, and...

Rachel's Marathon Blog: chaos

http://rachelmarathon.blogspot.com/2005/04/chaos.html

Tackling the first marathon. Monday, April 25, 2005. It is that time of the year when students who have made nothing but C's all semester come to my office asking what they need to do to make an A for the class (uh, score 137% on your final? It is a time for begging, wheedling, threatening ("I'm going to lose my scholarship if you don't give me an A! Still running, but not feeling much like blogging about it these days. Did a long run of 8 miles this weekend and last- last weekend with no IT pain, th...

Poignant Irrelevance: Half Marathon Part 2

http://metrxman.blogspot.com/2010/08/half-marathon-part-2.html

Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Half Marathon Part 2. Another huge gap since my last post! Last Saturday I toed the line at my chance for 1/2 marathon redemption. This time I finished in 1:40:41 vs. that previous 1:47 a month ago. Better course, more accurate course, and better conditions. And another month of training under my belt didn't hurt. Trust me, at 7:45 1/2M pace, everyone is skinny ('cept me). Its pretty sweet. I'll be a dad in almost exactly 1 month! Posted by brent at 8:36 PM. I cant believe its...

I added a fancy border so that might help it look spiffy i guess. we spent 4 nights in vegas on our last trip ever as a DINKs (double income no kids). i think they call it a babymoon these days. it was so great to get away from our busy lives and have no schedule at all. we had a blast. Poignant Irrelevance: Half Marathon

http://metrxman.blogspot.com/2010/07/half-marathon.html

Monday, July 05, 2010. On Sunday morning a buddy and I lined up in the starting chute for a half marathon. The dew point was low to mid-70s, temp was about 80, and the clouds were ominous! My hands felt so sticky just standing there waiting for the thing to start. And 2) this was a brand new race / course. Compared to the chicago marathon in '07, this race gets a difficulty rating of 7.5 to 8, and chicago gets a 10 out of 10. You can't really compare the distances, but I can compare the way I felt. Yeah,...

Thursday, June 30, 2011. My right hamstring has just been killing me over the last several weeks. its the upper hamstring, right below the glute (i think). brutal! I think i started back too fast in the spring or something. Its very satisfying but the worst part is that i feel so hungry all day after running in the AM. Posted by brent at 8:42 PM. Brent: I need you to do this race. I really really want someone I know to do this race! Running and Lifting (and some other stuff too). View my complete profile.

Poignant Irrelevance: TCM #6

http://metrxman.blogspot.com/2010/10/tcm-6.html

Tuesday, October 05, 2010. Another quick update here. For those that didn't see on twitter, I had an amazing marathon experience on Sunday. I posted a 3:36:45. I held myself in check during the first 8-10 miles when I wanted so badly to bust a gut out there and run like the wind because I felt so good. According to my chip time: first half marathon in 1:48:32 and the second half in 1:48:13. Can you believe it? But you know what? A 3:36 vs. a 3:34 is really neither here nor there for me; not a big deal.

Saturday, October 02, 2010. Thank you so much for all the comments everybody! Every day is a new adventure, but it has been great so far. The whole not sleeping too much thing is kind of tricky, but hopefully we'll get that down (probably just in time for him to change it up on us! But otherwise I was pretty much on track during this training cycle. Thanks for all of your encouragement and support along the way.here we go again! See you on the flip side.
