M L Van Nice. Oil on hard-board cut to silhouette, cast shadows on vellum. On some level, all of my work is about sense of place: what it is to be in a place, or to call a place home, or to wander streets of a place, trying to come to find lost roots, or make new ones. There’s daydreaming and longing, connecting with and appreciation details, or reaching and desiring to connect. What do you need and what can you leave out to make a stage for human stories to play out? M L Van Nice. 2016 Mad Oyster Studios.
