Room of Requirement: November 2012
http://trainingroom.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
This site was created because it was needed. Saturday, November 24, 2012. Review: The Ward of Heaven and the Wyrm in the Sea. This review is copied from the one I posted on Amazon.com. You can buy this book here. Colin Cutler's first novel (if novel is the right word) is impressive both in style and substance. The style recalls Beowulf. With the frame story creating a sense of the old North lands, and the tales told within it reaching back further and higher still. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I have a B&...

I will begin with an equation: (M. Night Shyamalan Michael Bay)George Lucas = Peter Jackson, 2013. Shyamalan first burst onto the scene with The Sixth Sense. Question: Which of the following events actually happens in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. A Bilbo takes off his ring while staring directly into Smaug's face. E All of the above.

Homeschooling Can Be Murder. To get serious again, the members of the family are distinctly drawn, even if their names are not, and the townspeople are made memorable as well. Having memorable characters, a good plot, and some worthwhile deeper themes running through it, Homeschooling Can Be Murder. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I have...

Room of Requirement: Introduction
http://trainingroom.blogspot.com/2007/12/introduction.html
This site was created because it was needed. Wednesday, December 26, 2007. This blog contains my reviews and analysis of movies and books. I define "review" as an article judging a work's quality and intended for those who have not read or seen it. I define "analysis" as an article that assumes familiarity with a work and that discusses primarily its meaning, although such articles will also deal with the work's quality and truth. The works chosen will be those I feel like writing about.

This site was created because it was needed. Monday, September 24, 2012. Review: Trouble with the Curve. Clint Eastwood's final (? This is not to say that Trouble with the Curve. Was slanted toward them. In actuality, of course, both are valuable, but it's understandable why the film emphasizes what it does. The film has its problems ( e.g. A somewhat contrived, though satisfying, ending), and a bit more cussing than I would like, but is worthwhile for fans of baseball, Clint Eastwood, or Amy Adams.

Room of Requirement: The World's End: Finally, a Good Movie
http://trainingroom.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-worlds-end-finally-good-movie.html
This site was created because it was needed. Sunday, August 25, 2013. Finally, a Good Movie. This has been a disappointing year for movies, at least for the type of movies I'm interested in. The best thing I had seen was Joss Whedon's home-movie version of Much Ado About Nothing. But now that one finally has competition: The World's End. This is the third film in a sequence of movies variously called the Cornetto trilogy or the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy. I have seen neither Shaun of the Dead. Third, th...
